commentary: scotland v holland
Gavin Hamilton lbw b Stelling 4.
By Dave Tickner
Netherlands (140 for two) beat Scotland (136 all out) by eight wickets with 26.1 overs remaining
The Netherlands take the minnows' bragging rights in Group A, and their crushing victory over the Scots was every bit as comprehensive as those of Australia and South Africa. It completes a fairly miserable tournament for Scotland who entered the tournament as the top-ranked Associate nation but have been utterly upsateged, first and foremost by Ireland and now Holland.
Over 23.5: Zuiderent gets a single with a thick inside edge, while ten Doeschate is starting to look a million dollars, whipping another boundary through midwicket after some lovely footwork to get to the ball on the full. The next ball is deposited over long-on for another boundary. A wide from Haq brings the scores level, and ten Doeschate smashes a full-toss through midwicket for another blistering boundary.
Netherlands 140/2 (RR: 5.87): Zuiderent 43* (56), ten Doeschate 70* (68)
Over 23: Fantastic batting from ten Doeschate, going to 50 with a whip through midwicket, then cuts hard to backward-point for another boundary, and makes it three in a row with a pick-up over midwicket.
Netherlands 126/2 (RR: 5.48): Zuiderent 42* (55), ten Doeschate 58* (64)
Netherlands need 11 runs to win from 27 overs at 0.41 runs per over.
Ten Doeschate 50: 61 balls, 8 x 4s, 1 x 6
Over 22: Zuiderent eases through the covers for a single. Ten Doeschate almost yorks himself next ball coming down the track but gets away with it. He works to leg for a single, and Zuiderent advances to whip Haq through midwicket for four more to end the over.
Netherlands 114/2 (RR: 5.18): Zuiderent 42* (55), ten Doeschate 46* (58)
Netherlands need 23 runs to win from 28 overs at 0.82 runs per over.
Over 21: A misfield in the covers allows ten Doeschate a single after a few good balls from Brown. Zuiderent clips through midwicket for three runs.
Netherlands 108/2 (RR: 5.14): Zuiderent 37* (53), ten Doeschate 45* (54)
Netherlands need 29 runs to win from 29 overs at 1.00 runs per over.
Over 20: The 100 comes up for Netherlands with a cracking cut to the boundary from ten Doeschate. A shortt ball is hammered to deep midwicket for a single by the increasingly dominant ten Doeschate and the end is nigh here.
Netherlands 104/2 (RR: 5.20): Zuiderent 34* (51), ten Doeschate 44* (50)
Netherlands need 33 runs to win from 30 overs at 1.10 runs per over.
Over 19: Brown continues to plug away in vain, conceding three singles from a tidy over.
Netherlands 99/2 (RR: 5.21): Zuiderent 34* (50), ten Doeschate 39* (45)
Netherlands need 38 runs to win from 31 overs at 1.23 runs per over.
Over 18: A real mixed bag from Haq. A full-toss is hammered to the point fence by Zuiderent before another apparently strightforward lbw shout is rejected. It looked absolutely plumb, but nothing given and Zuiderent survives.
Netherlands 96/2 (RR: 5.33): Zuiderent 33* (47), ten Doeschate 37* (42)
Netherlands need 41 runs to win from 32 overs at 1.28 runs per over.
Haq is into the attack.
Over 17: Brown starts with three dot balls, but the fourth comes off a thick outside edge to third-man for a single to Zuiderent. The final ball of the over is an absolute cracker that squares ten Doeschate, hits him on the pads in front of off stump and runs off to the boundary. It looks plumb lbw, but the umpire just signals four leg-byes. Brown looks heartbroken. Great first over, no reward.
Netherlands 92/2 (RR: 5.41): Zuiderent 29* (41), ten Doeschate 37* (42)
Netherlands need 45 runs to win from 33 overs at 1.36 runs per over.
Brown is into the attack for Scotland.
Over 16: Zuiderent works to leg for a single, and more width allows ten Doeschate to cut the ball to third-man again for four more. Ten Doeschate skips down the track next ball and hits a gorgeous six straight back over Rogers' head and onto the roof of the press box. The ball is changed while the original is retrieved from the roof, and the over ends with two dot balls.
Netherlands 87/2 (RR: 5.44): Zuiderent 28* (37), ten Doeschate 37* (40)
Netherlands need 50 runs to win from 34 overs at 1.47 runs per over.
Over 15: Zuiderent guides to third-man for a single. Wright squares ten Doeschate up with a good one, but the ball squirts to third-man off the outside edge for a single. Zuiderent pushes to midwicket for a tight but safe single. Wright offers width to ten Doeschate, who gets a bit of a top edge to the cut shot, and it races down to the third-man fence for another boundary.
Netherlands 76/2 (RR: 5.07): Zuiderent 27* (35), ten Doeschate 27* (36)
Netherlands need 61 runs to win from 35 overs at 1.74 runs per over.
Over 14: Beautiful late cut from ten Doeschate, and it absolutely races to the third-man boundary to take Holland past halfway. The rest of the over is pretty good from Rogers, with ten Doeschate surviving one very concerted lbw shout. He got just outside the line.
Netherlands 69/2 (RR: 4.93): Zuiderent 25* (32), ten Doeschate 22* (33)
Netherlands need 68 runs to win from 36 overs at 1.89 runs per over.
Rogers to continue for Scotland with his left-arm spin.
Over 13: Two nice shots from Zuiderent, one through square-leg and one through point each earn two runs for Holland. A reasonably tidy over from Wright, but Holland will be happy to get four an over from here.
Netherlands 65/2 (RR: 5.00): Zuiderent 25* (32), ten Doeschate 18* (27)
Netherlands need 72 runs to win from 37 overs at 1.95 runs per over.
Wright to bowl the first over.
Zuiderent and ten Doeschate follow the Scotland players out for the afternoon session. Which, one way or the other, will be fairly brief.
Lunch. A fantastic morning for the Dutch, and a miserable one for Scotland. They have at least picked up a couple of wickets, but Hollaqnd have knocked off 61 of the 137 needed for victory, and they have their two classiest players at the crease as we head into a 20-minute break.
Over 12: Rogers starts with a maiden as ten Doeschate follows Zuiderent in playing out a maiden over with the break looming.
Netherlands 61/2 (RR: 5.08): Zuiderent 21* (26), ten Doeschate 18* (27)
Netherlands need 76 runs to win from 38 overs at 2.00 runs per over.
Left-arm spinner Rogers is into the attack. This will probably be the last over before lunch.
Over 11: With lunch approaching, Zuiderent is content to play out a maiden from Wright. Tidy bowling, but sensible batting.
Netherlands 61/2 (RR: 5.55): Zuiderent 21* (26), tenDoeschate 18* (21)
Netherlands need 76 runs to win from 39 overs at 1.95 runs per over.
Scotland have declined to take the second powerplay.
Over 10: Haq misfields at mid-on from a ten Doeschate clip, and that costs two runs. A short ball from Blain is pulled in Caribbean style off one leg by ten Doeschate for four more.
Netherlands 61/2 (RR: 6.10): Zuiderent 21* (20), ten Doeschate 18* (21)
Netherlands need 76 runs to win from 40 overs at 1.90 runs per over.
Over 9: Wright drops short, and Zuiderent whacks it through point for another boundary. Ten Doeschate gets the last ball of the over into the legside for a single.
Netherlands 55/2 (RR: 6.11): Zuiderent 21* (20), ten Doeschate 12* (15)
Netherlands need 82 runs to win from 41 overs at 2.00 runs per over.
Wright is into the attack for Scotland.
Over 8: Blain strays onto leg stump and ten Doeschate flicks it fine on the legside for another boundary.
Netherlands 49/2 (RR: 6.13): Zuiderent 16* (17), ten Doeschate 11* (12)
Netherlands need 88 runs to win from 42 overs at 2.10 runs per over.
Over 7: Glorious shot from ten Doeschate to get off the mark, back-cutting the ball wide of third-man to the fence. There's a big leg-before shout agianst ten Doeschate, but the ball hits him outside the line. Ten Doeschate guides the ball to third-man and scampers hard to get three as Haq makes good ground to get round to field.
Netherlands 45/2 (RR: 6.43): Zuiderent 16* (17), ten Doeschate 7* (6)
Netherlands need 92 runs to win from 43 overs at 2.14 runs per over.
Over 6: Zuiderent on strike as the batsmen crossed, and the next ball from Blain is a wide to take the runs required into two figures. Two dot balls end the over.
Netherlands 38/2 (RR: 6.33): Zuiderent 16* (17), ten Doeschate 0* (0)
Netherlands need 99 runs to win from 44 overs at 2.25 runs per over.
Ten Doeschate is the new batsman for Holland.

ES Szwarczynski c Smith b Blain 12 (11)
Blain strays onto the pads and Zuiderent flicks nonchalantly over midwicket for a quality boundary. Zuiderent gets a quick single from the next delivery. Szwarczynski then tries to pull a ball that's just too full and skies an easy catch for wicketkeeper Smith. Still life in this game yet.
Over 5: Zuiderent gets a sharp single from the first ball of Hoffmann's over. Szwarczynski gets four with a good-looking drive. It wasn't right out ofthe middle but had enough to get to the rope at cover. Another boundary follows, and this one's a real beauty, crunched through mid-on with classical high elbow and very much out of the middle of the blade.
Netherlands 32/1 (RR: 6.40): Zuiderent 11* (13), Szwarczynski 12* (9)
Netherlands need 105 runs to win from 45 overs at 2.33 runs per over.
Over 4: The batsmen crossed, so Zuiderent is on strike. He pushes a single to get Szwarczynski on strike, and he promptly cuts his first ball over gully for four. The last three balls are played defensively by... Eric.
Netherlands 23/1 (RR: 5.75): Zuiderent 10* (12), Szwarczynski 4* (4)
Netherlands need 114 runs to win from 46 overs at 2.48 runs per over.
Eric Szwarczynski is the new batsman. Nothing personal, but I hope he falls early...
WICKET!
DJ Reekers c Wright b Blain 9 (8)
Scotland have thier early wicket as Reekers' attempted rive over mid-on skes to Wright at mid-off who has a simple catch.
Over 3: Reekers gets four with a textbook push straight back past the bowler. A full-toss is pushed down the ground for a single, and Zuiderent blocks the final ball of the over.
Netherlands 18/0 (RR: 6.00): Zuiderent 9* (11), Reekers 9* (7)
Netherlands need 119 runs to win from 47 overs at 2.53 runs per over.
Over 2: Short and wide from Blain, and Zuiderent hammers a cut shot over the top of point for four runs. Blain drops short again, and Zuiderent hammers this one along the ground to the boundary. A muchbetter short ball from Blain hits Zuiderent on the gloves as he tries to fend the ball from close to his face. A better end to the over.
Netherlands 13/0 (RR: 6.50): Zuiderent 9* (10), Reekers 4* (2)
Netherlands need 124 runs to win from 48 overs at 2.58 runs per over.
Blain will share the new ball.
Over 1: Zuiderent has a wild swing and a miss at a gentle outswinger, but gets off the mark with a single on the legside. Reekers swivels and pulls his first ball over square-leg for four before another swish makes no contact.
Netherlands 5/0 (RR: 5.00): Zuiderent 1* (4), Reekers 4* (2)
Netherlands need 132 runs to win from 49 overs at 2.69 runs per over.
Hoffmann will bowl the first over of the innings. Early wickets are key for Scotland here.
The players are out for a 50-minute session before lunch thanks to the speed with which Scotland capitulated, an effort wholly worthy of their neighbours to the south. Zuiderent and Reekers are the opening batsmen.
Scotland: 136 all out (34.1 overs)
Netherlands need 137 to win at 2.74 runs per over
Disappointing effort from Scotland, who needed a late-order flurry to get up even to 136. The Dutch batting line-up should have little problem knocking those off for a consolation win, but if Scotland pick up early wickets, strange things could yet happen.
WICKET!
PJC Hoffmann c ten Doeschate b van Bunge 7 (8)
Hoffmann looks for another maximum, but can only swipe the ball high into the air. Ten Doeschate steadies himself underneath it and takes a comfortable catch.
Over 34: Great stuff from Blain, hitting a couple of meaty slog-sweeps, one that bounces just short of the rope for four and the other well over it for six. The final ball of the over almost produces a brilliant catch at short-leg, but the fielder can't gather the very difficult chance straight off the face of the bat.
Scotland 136/9 (RR: 3.81): Blain 18* (27), Hoffmann 7* (7)
Drinks. Entertaining stuff here, but Scotland must be desperately disappointed with their efforts in a game they would have expected to do well in. Theirs is not a lost cause, but they are going to have to bowl out of their skins.
Over 33: Hoffmann tries to do a Gibbs, but can only miscue the ball into the legside for a single. Blain eases the next ball down the ground for a single, before Hoffmann survives a very close stumping appeal. He might have been on the line, but it was desperately tight and the third umpire finds in favour of the batsmen. Two singles follow from the final two balls of the over, but Hoffmann is probably a bit lucky to still be out there.
Scotland 126/9 (RR: 3.81): Blain 8* (22), Hoffmann 7* (7)
Van Bunge is into the attack. He hasn't had the best World Cup so far...
Over 32: Hoffmann gets off the mark with a crashing drive through the covers for four, and then gets a single with a top-edge to third-man. Blain blocks the final two balls, but we saw against South Africa that both these guys are pretty capable hitters. so Holland's work isn't done yet.
Scotland 122/9 (RR: 3.81): Blain 6* (20), Hoffmann 5* (3)
Paul Hoffmann is Scotland's number 11.
WICKET!
G Rogers c Smits b Kashif 26 (30)
Rogers' defiant rearguard comes to an end as he plays back and gets a thin edge through to Smits, who completes the catch to leave Scotland nine down with almost 19 overs still to go.
Over 31: Rogers gets a quick single, and Blain adds three more with a good-looking clip off the toes throug midwicket. Ten Doeschate drops the last ball short, and Rogers cuts hard to the cover sweeper for a single.
Scotland117/8 (RR: 3.77): Blain 6* (18), Rogers 26* (29)
Over 30: Another good over from Kashif, just a single coming from it as Kashif keeps the ball on a perfect line and length.
Scotland 112/8 (RR: 3.73): Blain 3* (16), Rogers 24* (25)
Over 29: Better over from ten Doeschate, almost getting a yorker under Rogers' defences and conceding just a single.
Scotland 111/8 (RR: 3.83): Blain 3* (15), Rogers 23* (20)
Over 28: Excellent over from Kashif, keeping Blain on the defensive and completing a maiden.
Scotland 110/8 (RR: 3.93): Blain 3* (15), Rogers 22* (14)
Over 27: A wide to start from ten Doeschate, and that brings up the 100 for Scotland. Another one follows, and Holland need to keep their discipline here to finish the job. Both these men are capable with the bat. Blain pushes to leg and gets through for a well-judged single, and a short ball from ten Doeschate is carved over third-man for four, and another fairly wide delivery is helped wide of slip and away for another boundary.
Scotland 110/8 (RR: 4.07): Blain 3* (9), Rogers 22* (14)
Ryan ten Doeschate is into the attack.
Over 26: Escape for Blain as his outside edge is parried up in the air by Smits and just out of the reach of Bas Zuiderent at slip. No luck for Kashif and the batsmen get through for a single. The next ball finds another outside edge, and this one goes wide of the slips and away for four. No bad luck for the bowler next ball though - it's short of a length and smashed through midwicket for four by Rogers.
Scotland 99/8 (RR: 3.81): Blain 2* (7), Rogers 14* (10)
Over 25: Blain works to leg for a single, and Rogers gets four with a sweetly-timed square drive as Jonkman overpitches a fraction. Rogers clips to leg for a couple more as Scotland try to at least bat through the bulk of their overs and get what they can.
Scotland 90/8 (RR: 3.60): Blain 1* (5), Rogers 6* (6)
Over 24: Rogers survives the final two balls of the over, but Scotland are in all sorts of strife now. At the moment, it's embarrassing.
Scotland 83/8 (RR: 3.46): Blain 0* (3), Rogers 0* (2)
Glenn Rogers is the new batsman for Scotland.
WICKET!
CM Wright st Smits b Kashif 1 (7)
Brainless batting from Scotland's captain, dancing down the wicket, missing the ball and being stumped by yards. Oh dear.
Over 23: Blain digs out a yorker first ball, and then lets the final ball go through to the keeper. Successful over for the promising young paceman.
Scotland 83/7 (RR: 3.61): Wright 1* (3), Blain 0* (3)
John Blain is the new batsman.
WICKET!
N McCallum c Stelliong b Jonkman 24 (43)
Over 22: McCallum tries to sweep but misses. Good to see Dutch captain Smits prepared to attack with two fielders in close catching. Kashif drops short to McCallum who cuts hard through point for a boundary.
Scotland 81/6 (RR: 3.68): McCallum 24* (41), Wright 0* (2)
Muhammad Kashif is into the attack for Netherlands.
Over 21: Wright survives his first two deliveries, defending solidly.
Scotland 77/6 (RR: 3.67): McCallum 20* (35), Wright 0* (2)
Scotland captain Craig Wright is in with his team in need of heroics.
WICKET!
CJO Smith b Jonkman 19 (23)
Almost a mix-up after the ball comes off McCallum's pads, butthe batsmen eventually get through for a leg-bye. It's a brief respite though, as a lack of footwork costs Smith his wicket as he gets an inside edge onto his leg bail. Jonkman gets his first World Cup wicket.
Over 20: A big wide from de Leede to start the over. The next two are dot ball, but de Leede then bowls another offside wide. The next ball is straight, but it's also overpitched and McCallum drives gloriously back past the stumps at the bowler's end for a high-class boundary. A shovel into the legside gets McCallum a single, and the final ball of a messy over from de Leede is short and wide, allowing Smith to free his arms and smah the ball through point for another boundary.
Scotland 76/5 (RR: 3.80): McCallum 20* (34), Smith 19* (20)
Over 19: Five dot balls to start Jonkman's over, but the final ball is clubbed down the ground for four. Good batting from Smith.
Scotland 65/5 (RR: 3.42): McCallum 15* (29), Smith 15* (19)
Over 18: Smith gets a single, and then McCallum gets an astonishing six with a top edge that sails way over fine-leg into the stands.
Scotland 61/5 (RR: 3.39): McCallum 15* (29), Smith 11* (13)
Drinks. What a start for Holland. Stelling in particular bowled brilliantly, swinging the ball both ways and troubling all the batters. With some better catching, Scotland could be in even bigger trouble.
Over 17: Great shot from Smith, coming down the track and driving through cover for four runs. A beautiful late cut gets Smith another boundary, and he continues to impress at this tournament, and he pulls to fine-leg for a single to end the over.
Scotland 54/5 (RR: 3.18): McCallum 9* (27), Smith 10* (9)
Jonkman is into the attack.
Over 16: Smith gets off the mark with a quick single to mid-on, and McCallum gets a much-needed boundary with a powerful sweep over square-leg.
Scotland 45/5 (RR: 2.81): McCallum 9* (27), Smith 1* (3)
The final powerplay is taken, with de Leede to continue.
Over 15: Stelling starts his eighth over with a wide, and that back injury looks like it's giving him some trouble. Stelling beats McCallum's inside edge with one that shapes back in to the batsman and the wide is all that Scotland can muster from another fine Stelling over.
Scotland 40/5 (RR: 2.67): McCallum 5* (22), Smith 0* (2)
Over 14: Smith safely negotiates his first two deliveries, but a fantastic start for de Leede.
Scotland 39/5 (RR: 2.79): McCallum 5* (16), Smith 0* (2)
Wicketkeeper Colin Smith is the new batsman.
WICKET!
RR Watson c & b de Leede 16 (37)
Scotland's problems deepen as Watson hammers a drive straight back at de Leede, who holds onto a sharp catch at the second attempt.
Tim de Leede is into the attack.
Over 13: Watson shovels a no-ball into the legside for a single before another dropped catch from van Bunge as McCallum chases a wide outswinger and edges straight to the fielder who shells another simple chance. McCallum gets a single for that, and watson hammers the next ball through cover off the back foot for a boundary.
Scotland 38/4 (RR: 2.92): Watson 16* (35), McCallum 4* (14)
Over 12: McCallum cuts to third-man for a single, and Watson then comes down the track to hit Reekers through midwicket for a welcome if unconvincing boundary, The next ball is short and wide, and Watson plays a much better cricket shot this time, cutting the ball in front of point for another boundary. He tucks the next ball into the legsidefor a single, and that's a better over for the Scots.
Scotland 31/4 (RR: 2.58): Watson 11* (29), McCallum 3* (13)
Over 11: Another maiden over from Stelling, and Watson just has no answer to this clever swing bowling at the moment.
Scotland 21/4 (RR: 1.91): Watson 2* (25), McCallum 2* (11)
Holland take the second powerplay. To no great surprise.
Over 10: Loud but optimistic lbw shout first ball with McCallum a long way forward. The next ball finds the outside edge but flies wide of second slip for two runs. No luck for the bowler, as Scotland's woes continue with McCallum playing and missing twice in three balls before the over's end.
Scotland 21/4 (RR: 2.10): Watson 2* (19), McCallum 2* (11)
Over 9: Watson is looking to get on with things, twice coming down the track but having to defend. The last ball of the over is an inswinger that flicks off the pads for two leg-byes.
Scotland 19/4 (RR: 2.13): Watson 2* (19), McCallum 0* (5)
Over 8: With the score 15-4, Watson charges down the ground, but makes no contact. The next ball is way wide of the off stump, but Watson goes after it. He misses, it's signalled wide, but he looks incredibly jumpy. A mistimed pull does get Watson a single. McCallum is beaten by the final ball of the over, and Reekers is doing a fine job supporting Stelling.
Scotland 17/4 (RR: 2.13): Watson 2* (13), McCallum 0* (5)
Over 7: McCallum survives the hat-trick ball, and defends the final two balls of a double-wicket maiden.
Scotland 15/4 (RR: 2.14): Watson 1* (9), McCallum 0* (3)
Neil McCallum is the new batsman.

DR Brown lbw b Stelling 0 (1)
Brown goes first ball, plumb in front and Stelling is on a hat-trick. Scotland are in a deep hole.
Dougie Brown is the new batsman for Scotland. The Saltires desperately need a partnership between these two experienced players.

GM Hamilton lbw b Stelling 4 (13)
Scotland in deep trouble as Hamilton falls over to the offside and is trapped in front by a big inswinger from Stelling. Fine bowling, but a poor shot.
Over 6: Stelling slips a wide down the legside, and Hamilton then works to leg for a single. Watson blocks the final two balls of the over, and this is a fine start from the Dutch.
Scotland 15/2 (RR: 2.50): Watson 1* (9), Hamilton 4* (11)
Over 5: Stelling continues to impress, with just a leg-bye and a single to Hamilton coming from it.
Scotland 13/2 (RR: 2.60): Watson 1* (7), Hamilton 3* (7)
Over 4: Hamilton gets off the mark straight away with a thin inside edge to fine-leg, where a misfield allows a second run.
Scotland 11/2 (RR: 2.75): Watson 1* (4), Hamilton 2* (4)
Gavin Hamilton is the new batsman for Scotland, with his team in trouble.
WICKET!
RM Haq b Reekers 6 (15)
That had been coming for a while. Haq plays down the wrong line with no footwork to a straight delivery and is comprehensively bowled.
Over 3: Scotland should be two down. Stelling draws the edge from Haq's loose drive, but a simple chance at slip is shelled by Daan van Bunge. A single is the result.
Scotland 9/1 (RR: 3.00): Haq 6* (13), Watson 1* (4)
Over 2: Haq is troubled by some accurate bowling from Reekers, but when the bowler offers a bit of width, Haq hammers a drive through square-cover for the first boundary of the day and then adds a single.
Scotland 8/1 (RR: 4.00): Haq 5* (10), Watson 1* (1)
Darron Reekers will share the new ball.
Over 1: Watson defends his first ball behind point for a single. Haq defends two balls - one a no-ball - solidly into the covers, and then blocks again as Stelling continue to work away on an impeccable line, although the final ball of the over is slightly legside, and flicks off the pads for a leg-bye.
Scotland 3/1 (RR: 3.00): Haq 0* (4), Watson 1* (1)
Ryan Watson is the new batsman for Scotland.

NS Poonia c Smits b Stelling 0 (2)
Great start for the Netherlands, as Stelling gets one to shape away from Poonia, catch a thin outside edge and give captain for the day Smits a regulation catch at the wicket.
Billy Stelling will bowl the first over.
The players are out in St Kitts, and so too is the sun now, which is good news. Navdeep Poonia and Majid Haq are the openers for Scotland.
Play will start at 1350 GMT, with no loss of overs.
We've had a slightly delayed start here after a spot of rain. It's stopped now, and we should be under way shortly.
The Netherlands have won the toss and decided to bowl first in this clash of the Group A minnows.
Holland spring two significant surprises in today's World Cup Group A match against Scotland, leaving out captain Luuk van Troost at his own request.
The all-rounder feels his form has not been up to scratch - and wicketkeeper Jeroen Smits therefore takes over as captain, with Mohammad Kashif coming in for a Cup debut.
The Dutch also drop promising young batsman Alexei Kervezee, bringing in Eric Szwarczynski.
Scotland also had to make an unexpected late change.
Then after opener Fraser Watts pulled up with a groin strain in warm-up this morning, there was a reprieve for Neil McCallum.
He appeared to have lost his batting place to Navdeep Poonia, having struggled against South Africa two days ago, but was granted a last-minute call-up because of Watts' untimely injury.
Captain Craig Wright is available again and came in for pace bowler Dewald Nel.
