  • Powerplay overs in red.

West Indies (190 for two) beat Ireland (183 for eight) by eight wickets with 9.5 overs remaining (D/L method)
Easy win for West Indies thanks to a brilliant century from Chanderpaul after the bowlers had restricted Ireland to just 183-8 in a match reduced to 48 overs a side after rain during the first innings. West Indies take two points through to the Super Eight, which could yet prove crucial.

Over 38.1: Sure enough, Samuels launches the first ball of the over into the stands at midwicket to finish the game in style.
    West Indies 190/2 (RR: 4.98): Chanderpaul 102* (113), Samuels 27* (31)

Over 38: Chanderpaul cuts behind point for a single, and Samuels decides it's time to get this game over with. he comes down the track and smashes McCallan over midwicket for another big six that's well caught by the big man in the Bayern Munich shirt. Samuels gets a single from the next delivery. Chanderpaul blocks the last two deliveries, but we're just a hit away from the end of this game now.

Over 37: Chanderpaul goes to 99 with a delicate late cut to the third-man boundary, and drives to long-off for a single to register his first World Cup century. Fantastic innings from the little left-hander. Samuels pushes down the ground for a single, and Chanderpaul repeats the shot from the final ball of the over.
    West Indies 176/2 (RR: 4.76): Chanderpaul 101* (109), Samuels 14* (28)

    West Indies 169/2 (RR: 4.69): Chanderpaul 95* (104), Samuels 13* (27)
West Indies need 21 runs to win from 12 overs at 1.75 runs per over.

    West Indies 168/2 (RR: 4.80): Chanderpaul 94* (103), Samuels 13* (22)
West Indies need 22 runs to win from 13 overs at 1.69 runs per over.

West Indies need 24 runs to win from 14 overs at 1.71 runs per over.

West Indies need 27 runs to win from 15 overs at 1.80 runs per over.

Botha is back into the attack in place of Langford-Smith.

Over 32: McCallan bowls a wide down the legside, and Chanderpaul - aware of the century on offer - blocks some good balls before easing the last ball of the over down the ground for a single.
    West Indies 157/2 (RR: 4.91): Chanderpaul 91* (97), Samuels 5* (10)
West Indies need 33 runs to win from 16 overs at 2.06 runs per over.

Over 31: Chanderpaul helps a short ball from Langford-Smith to fine-leg for a single, and Samuels bunts a slower ball to midwicket for a single. A neatly-placed late cut from Chanderpaul finds a gap to allow two runs, and a flick to long-leg earns another single. Samuels misses out on a leg-stump half-volley, having to settle for a leg-bye as the ball comes off the pad. Chanderpaul cuts to third-man for a single to keep the strike.
    West Indies 155/2 (RR: 5.00): Chanderpaul 90* (91), Samuels 5* (10)
West Indies need 35 runs to win from 17 overs at 2.06 runs per over.

Drinks. West Indies are cruising to victory here. Just two points of interest remain; can Chanderpaul reach his century, and are those of us who backed Ireland on the handicap with a 7.5-wicket start going to be disappointed? Stay here to find out.

Over 30: Chanderpaul works off his pads for a single from the fourth ball of McCallan's over, and Samuels blocks the final two deliveries.
    West Indies 148/2 (RR: 4.93): Chanderpaul 85* (87), Samuels 4* (8)
West Indies need 42 runs to win from 18 overs at 2.33 runs per over.

Over 29: Samuels gets off the mark in fine style with a beautifully-timed cut behind point that races to the fence. A couple of sweet drives are well-fielded in the covers as Ireland refuse to give up.
    West Indies 147/2 (RR: 5.07): Chanderpaul 84* (83), Samuels 4* (6)
West Indies need 43 runs to win from 19 overs at 2.26 runs per over.

Langford-Smith is back into the attack for Ireland.

Over 28: Chanderpaul blocks the last two balls of the over, a successful one for Ireland. Albeit far too late.
    West Indies 143/2 (RR: 5.11): Chanderpaul 84* (83), Samuels 0* (0)
West Indies need 47 runs to win from 20 overs at 2.35 runs per over.

Samuels is the new batsman, but he won't be on strike as the batsmen crossed.

    WICKET!
    RR Sarwan c K O'Brien b McCallan 36 (71)

Another six, for Sarwan this time, down the track and smashed over wide long-on. But the Ireland captain has his revenge when Sarwan tries to repeat the shot and can only pick out Kevin O'Brien in the deep.

Over 27: Chanderpaul dabs the ball to third-man for a single, and Sarwan drives sweetly through cover for two runs. Sarwan gets another single to third-man and Chanderpaul plays out the over.
    West Indies 137/1 (RR: 5.07): Chanderpaul 84* (81), Sarwan 30* (67)
West Indies need 53 runs to win from 21 overs at 2.52 runs per over.

Over 26: Chanderpaul skips down the track to offspinner McCallan and levers the ball over long-on for a big six. The next ball is driven to deep cover for a single. Sarwan blocks out the over, almost offering a return catch from the final ball of the over.
    West Indies 133/1 (RR: 5.12): Chanderpaul 83* (77), Sarwan 27* (65)
West Indies need 57 runs to win from 22 overs at 2.59 runs per over.

Over 25: Chanderpaul and Sarwan help themselves to three singles from the first three balls of O'Brien's over before a late cut earns Sarwan two from the final ball.
    West Indies 126/1 (RR: 5.04): Chanderpaul 76* (75), Sarwan 27* (61)
West Indies need 64 runs to win from 23 overs at 2.78 runs per over.

Over 24: Chanderpaul blocks the first five balls of the over and then eases into the covers for a single to keep the strike.
    West Indies 121/1 (RR: 5.04): Chanderpaul 74* (71), Sarwan 24* (59)
West Indies need 69 runs to win from 24 overs at 2.88 runs per over.

Over 23: O'Brien starts the over with five dot balls, but the final ball is flicked over midwicket for a boundary by Sarwan.
    West Indies 120/1 (RR: 5.22): Chanderpaul 73* (65), Sarwan 24* (59)
West Indies need 70 runs to win from 25 overs at 2.80 runs per over.

Kevin O'Brien is into the attack.

Over 22: Sarwan gets a single from the fourth ball of McCallan's over and Chanderpaul blocks the final two balls of the over.
    West Indies 116/1 (RR: 5.27): Chanderpaul 73* (65), Sarwan 20* (53)
West Indies need 74 runs to win from 26 overs at 2.85 runs per over.

Over 21: Just three singles from that over, but wickets are the order of the day for Ireland now.
    West Indies 115/1 (RR: 5.48): Chanderpaul 73* (63), Sarwan 19* (49)
West Indies need 75 runs to win from 27 overs at 2.78 runs per over.

Over 20: McCallan doesn't seem to have realised the powerplay's finished. There are still just two fielders outside the ring as Sarwan smashes the ball through midwicket for four. Sarwan gets a single from the final ball of the over.
    West Indies 112/1 (RR: 5.60): Chanderpaul 72* (62), Sarwan 17* (44)
West Indies need 78 runs to win from 28 overs at 2.79 runs per over.

Some good news for Ireland - that's the end of the powerplays. McCallan brings himself into the attack.

Over 19: Sarwan dabs the ball to third-man for a single, which is all he has to do with Shiv in this mood. Chanderpaul gets six with a quite extraordinary shot, a top-edged sweep that sails way over the keeper's head and into the stands off the medium-paced Mooney. Chanderpaul gets a single, and Sarwan drives into the covers for another to end the over.
    West Indies 107/1 (RR: 5.63): Chanderpaul 72* (62), Sarwan 12* (38)
West Indies need 83 runs to win from 29 overs at 2.86 runs per over.

Over 18: Sarwan pushes down the ground for a single before Chanderpaul dismissively smashes Botha through midwicket for four. Chanderpaul follows that with an outside edge that runs away for four more runs to the bowler's frustrations. That was lucky, but there's nothing lucky about the next shot as Chanderpaul picks the ball up over long-on for a mighty six. Fifteen from the over.
    West Indies 98/1 (RR: 5.44): Chanderpaul 65* (59), Sarwan 10* (35)
West Indies need 92 runs to win from 30 overs at 3.07 runs per over.

Over 17: Chanderpaul goes through to a high-quality 50 with back-to-back boundaries, the first cut hard behind point and the second pulled hard over square-leg. A flick over square-leg gets Chanderpaul a single, and Sarwan ends an expensive over from Mooney with a chop to third-man for another run.
    West Indies 83/1 (RR: 4.88): Chanderpaul 51* (54), Sarwan 9* (34)
West Indies need 107 runs to win from 31 overs at 3.45 runs per over.

    Chanderpaul 50: 52 balls, 7 x 4s, 1 x 6

Over 16: Glorious shot from Chanderpaul, driving straight back over Botha's head for six runs and getting a single from the next ball. Sarwan pulls over short midwicket unconvincingly for a single. Chanderpaul gets the final ball of the over down to third-man for a single to keep the strike.
    West Indies 73/1 (RR: 4.56): Chanderpaul 42* (50), Sarwan 8* (32)
West Indies need 117 runs to win from 32 overs at 3.65 runs per over.

The final powerplay is taken. Just four overs long this one.

Over 15: Mooney starts with a maiden, and Sarwan is definitely short of form here.
    West Indies 64/1 (RR: 4.27): Chanderpaul 34* (46), Sarwan 7* (30)
West Indies need 126 runs to win from 33 overs at 3.71 runs per over.

Mooney is into the attack for Ireland.

Drinks. Ireland need wickets here, and fast. Although the introduction of Botha has stemmed the flow of runs, West Indies will cruise to victory here unless there's a dramatic mid-order collapse.

Over 14: The usual tidy stuff from Botha, Sarwan finally getting a single after blocking five deliveries that all pitch within inches of eachother.
    West Indies 64/1 (RR: 4.57): Chanderpaul 34* (46), Sarwan 7* (24)
West Indies need 126 runs to win from 34 overs at 3.71 runs per over.

Over 13: Sarwan finally gets some strike and immediately works the ball through midwicket for a couple. A solid cut shot earns another single for Sarwan, while a crashing drive from Chanderpaul is brilliantly stopped by Morgan at cover to save four runs.
    West Indies 63/1 (RR: 4.85): Chanderpaul 34* (46), Sarwan 6* (18)
West Indies need 127 runs to win from 35 overs at 3.63 runs per over.

Over 12: Chanderpaul cuts wide of point for a couple of runs. Not the best fielding there from the point fielder, and wicketkeeper O'Brien loudly and explicitly makes the fielder aware of his displeasure. Other than that, a good start from Botha.
    West Indies 60/1 (RR: 5.00): Chanderpaul 34* (45), Sarwan 3* (13)
West Indies need 130 runs to win from 36 overs at 3.61 runs per over.

Rankin is taken out of the attack and replaced by Botha.

Over 11: Chanderpaul drives over cover for a couple of runs, before an attempted slower ball from Langford-Smith bounces down the legside for a wide. Chanderpaul retains the strike with a drive wide of mid-off for a single.
    West Indies 58/1 (RR: 5.27): Chanderpaul 32* (39), Sarwan 3* (13)
West Indies need 132 runs to win from 37 overs at 3.57 runs per over.

Despite that Chanderpaul onslaught, Ireland take the second powerplay which is a normal five-over affair. The third powerplay is just four overs long.

Over 10: Gorgeous batting from Chanderpaul, first driving arrow-straight down the ground for four before pulling a long-hop to the midwicket fence as Rankin overcompensates. Chanderpaul makes it three in a row with another pull shot heaved through midwicket, and then four with a deft flick fine on the legside. The final ball of the over is driven through the covers but a diving stop means it's just a single. Seventeen from the over.
    West Indies 54/1 (RR: 5.40): Chanderpaul 29* (33), Sarwan 3* (13)
West Indies need 136 runs to win from 38 overs at 3.58 runs per over.

Over 9: Short and wide from Lanford-Smith, and Chanderpaul whacks a cut shot through point for his first boundary, and adds a single through midwicket before Sarwan blocks the final ball of the over.
    West Indies 37/1 (RR: 4.11): Chanderpaul 12* (27), Sarwan 3* (13)
West Indies need 153 runs to win from 39 overs at 3.92 runs per over.

Over 8: Chanderpaul survives an optimistic lbw shout from the first ball of the over that keeps low but pitches outside leg, before guiding the next ball to third-man for a single. Sarwan plays into the covers off the back foot for a single, and Chanderpaul cuts a short ball to third-man for a third run in the over.
    West Indies 32/1 (RR: 4.00): Chanderpaul 7* (22), Sarwan 3* (12)
West Indies need 158 runs to win from 40 overs at 3.95 runs per over.

Over 7: Fantastic maiden over from Langford-Smith, almost claiming Sarwan's wicket with two balls in succession. The first is a spooned drive that drops short of mid-off and the second beats the outside edge as it shapes away.
    West Indies 29/1 (RR: 4.14): Chanderpaul 5* (19), Sarwan 2* (9)
West Indies need 161 runs to win from 41 overs at 3.93 runs per over.

Over 6:Sarwan's first delivery is a wide down the legside from Rankin, and the bowler repeats the error two balls later. Sarwan pushes to midwicket for a single to get off the mark. Chanderpaul guides to third-man for another single, and a misfield in the covers allows Sarwan another single. Rankin is bang on target for the last two balls of the over and Chanderpaul defends.
    West Indies 29/1 (RR: 4.83): Chanderpaul 5* (19), Sarwan 2* (3)
West Indies need 161 runs to win from 42 overs at 3.83 runs per over.

Over 5: Chanderpaul blocks the three remaining deliveries of a successful over for Langford-Smith and Ireland.
    West Indies 24/1 (RR: 4.80): Chanderpaul 4* (16), Sarwan 0* (0)
West Indies need 166 runs to win from 43 overs at 3.86 runs per over.

Sarwan is the new batsman after Ireland pick up the crucial wicket of Gayle. He won't be on strike as the batsmen crossed.

    WICKET!
    CH Gayle c White b Langford-Smith 18 (14)

Typical Gayle, effortlessly driving Langford-Smith over mid-on for an authoritative boundary, before skying the next ball,a clever slower one, to White at mid-off who holds on to the catch.

Over 4: Not entirely convincingly, Gayle whips Rankin through square-leg off a thick inside edge for four and then plays a better shot to midwicket off his hips for two runs. A McCallan misfield at mid-on allows Gayle to get through for a single.
    West Indies 20/0 (RR: 5.00): Gayle 14* (11), Chanderpaul 4* (13)
West Indies need 170 runs to win from 44 overs at 3.86 runs per over.

Over 3: Gayle works to leg for a single, and Langford-Smith is penalised for a wide outside off stump. Chanderpaul gets two runs with a crisp drive through the covers. Chanderpaul almost chops the final ball into the stump but survives. Steady start for West Indies in what should be a routine run-chase.
    West Indies 13/0 (RR: 4.33): Gayle 7* (6), Chanderpaul 4* (12)
West Indies need 177 runs to win from 45 overs at 3.93 runs per over.

Over 2: Rankin's first ball is short and pulled away to long-leg for a single by Chanderpaul. Gayle chases a wide ball, and gets a thick edge high over the slips for four runs. The next one is pulled through midwicket for a single. The next one clips Chanderpaul's thigh pad on the way through to the keeper, and there's a polite enquiry for a catch. The last two balls of the over are right on the money and Chanderpaul blocks.
    West Indies 9/0 (RR: 4.50): Gayle 6* (5), Chanderpaul 2* (7)
West Indies need 181 runs to win from 46 overs at 3.93 runs per over.

Boyd Rankin will share the new ball.

Over 1: Swing for Langford-Smith, but it's way down the legside and signalled wide. He finds his line after that though, as Gayle gets off the mark with a sharp single from a defensive push into the offside. Chanderpaul lets his first two balls go through to Niall O-Brien, before flicking to fine-leg for a single as the bowler again loses some control of the swing.
    West Indies 3/0 (RR: 3.00): Gayle 1* (3), Chanderpaul 1* (3)
West Indies need 187 runs to win from 47 overs at 3.98 runs per over.

Langford-Smith will bowl the first over of the innings.

The players are back out on the field, with Gayle and Shiv Chanderpaul opening the batting for West Indies.

West Indies need 190 runs to win from 48 overs at 3.96 runs per over
The calculators have spoken, and West Indies need 190 runs from their 48 overs for victory.

Ireland: 183 for eight (48 overs)

Now we just have to wait to see what Duckworth and Lewis come upwith for West Indies to chase in their 48 overs. It will preumably be slightly more, but not an awful lot. In that West Indies innings, three Ireland bowlers will be entitled to bowl 10 overs, and two can bowl nine. The first 10 overs will be the compulsory powerplay, there will then be two more powerplays at Ireland's discretion - the first lasting five overs and the second lasting four. Hope that's clear. It also seems there was a misunderstanding earlier - there will be 13 minutes between the innings, not 30. Need to clean my ears out.

Over 48: McCallan gets a single, and Langford-Smith gets two more with a drive over the top that Powell can't quite get to for a stunning catch. Langford-Smith is then completely foxed by a slower ball that hits the pads and the batsmen get through for a leg-bye. McCallan gets nothing from the fifth ball of the over, but the next ball is a no-ball that McCallan flicks over short fine-leg for four runs. McCallan hits the final ball of the innings out to long-off and scampers through for two runs. Good last over for Ireland.
    Ireland 183/8 (RR: 3.81): McCallan 20* (25), Langford-Smith 8* (7)

And he almost gets it! A yorker hits Langford-Smith on the pads, but was missing leg stump and the batsmen get through for a leg-bye.

    Bravo on a hat-trick...

Over 47: Three singles from the first three balls of the over, but Samuels fields well in his followthrough to prevent anything from ball four. But the fifth ball is a low full-toss that Langford-Smith slices to third-man for a very welcome boundary. Langford-Smith scrambles a single from the final ball of the over.
    Ireland 171/8 (RR: 3.64): McCallan 13* (21), Langford-Smith 6* (4)

Samuels to bowl the penultimate over of the innings.

Over 46: Dave Langford-Smith is the new batsman. If Ireland get through to the final over, Bravo will be on a hat-trick.
    Ireland 163/8 (RR: 3.54): McCallan 11* (19), Langford-Smith 0* (0)

    WICKET!
    J Mooney c Ramdin b Bravo 0 (1)

Two in two for Bravo, who greets Mooney with a vicious rising delivery thta flicks the glove on its way through to Ramdin who holds on to a smart catch.

John Mooney is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    A White b Bravo 18 (29)

White carves to third-man for a single, and McCallan pushes a slower ball to cover for another. White then tries to play a sweep with fine-leg up in the circle but makes no contact and loses his middle stump.

Bravo to continue. Four balls left in the 46th over, White on strike.

The players are back out on the field. Ireland now have 48 overs rather than their original 50, so there will be a revised target for West Indies to chase. Inexplicably, there will still be a 30-minute break, so why they can't shorten that and still get the full 50 overs I don't know.

The rain has stopped at Sabina Park, and the covers are coming off. Still no word on a resumption or any loss of overs, but we'll keep you posted.

Still raining unfortunately. Looks like Messrs Duckworth and Lewis may have a say in proceedings here...

Wow. It's really hammering down now. By far the heaviest rain we've seen so far, and this looks like a lengthy delay I fear.

    Rain Stopped Play:
Rain breaks have been a feature of the action in Jamaica so far, and alas today's no different in the final match of Group D. Again, let's hope this is just a short shower.

Over 45.2: White gets a pair of twos from the opening balls of the over, but the rain gets heavier and forces the players from the field.
    Ireland 161/6 (RR: 3.52): White 17* (26), McCallan 10* (18)

Bravo is back into the attack.

Over 45: Samuels almost gets throughWhite with a well-disguised quicker ball, but White does get a run from a hard sweep to deep square-leg. McCallan can't add anything else, and the run-rate continues to stagnate. And now there's some rain in the air.
    Ireland 157/6 (RR: 3.49): White 13* (24), McCallan 10* (18)

Over 44: White works the ball into the legside for a single, and McCallan gets another. White gets a single from the final ball of the over, and that ends a fine spell of controlled spin bowling from Gayle - just 23 singles, two wickets and nothing else coming from it.
    Ireland 156/6 (RR: 3.55): White 12* (21), McCallan 10* (15)

Over 43: Tidy offspin from both ends here, as Ireland can only muster four singles from Samuels' third over.
    Ireland 153/6 (RR: 3.56): White 10* (18), McCallan 9* (12)

Over 42: White works to leg for a single, and McCallan adds another with a similar shot off the back foot. Another tidy over from Gayle, who has been hugely impressive.
    Ireland 149/6 (RR: 3.55): White 8* (15), McCallan 7* (9)

Over 41: A paddle-sweep from McCallan gets a single, and White gets another with a nurdle into the legside. McCallan gets another sweep very fine on the legside, and this time it runs away to the boundary.
    Ireland 147/6 (RR: 3.59): White 7* (11), McCallan 6* (7)

Samuels is back into the attack after a one-over spell earlier in the piece.

Over 40: White sweeps for a single, and McCallan adds another with a nudge into the legside.
    Ireland 141/6 (RR: 3.53): White 6* (10), McCallan 1* (2)

Stand-in captain McCallan is the new batsman. He won't be on strike as the batsmen crossed.

    WICKET!
    A Botha c Ramdin b Gayle 28 (56)

Botha's fustration gets the better of him as he tries to pull a ball that isn't short enough, succeeding only in spooning the ball into the air and giving the keeper a simple catch.

Over 39: Another over starts with a wide, from Taylor this time, and White gets the next ball to third-man for a single. Botha is beaten outside off stump by a good ball from Taylor that shapes away from the left-hander, although he does manage to get the fifth ball of the over to deep cover for a single. White blocks the final ball.
    Ireland 139/5 (RR: 3.56): Botha 27* (55), White 5* (8)

Over 38: Gayle starts with a wide and Botha gets the ball into the legaide for a single. White gets one with a paddle-sweep to fine-leg. Ireland are really struggling to get the singles here as gayle continues to turn the screw.
    Ireland 136/5 (RR: 3.58): Botha 27* (50), White 4* (6)

Over 37: Nice start for White, getting off the mark first ball with a clip off his toes for two runs, and adds a single working to leg again. Botha gets a leg-bye from the fifth ball of the over, and the final ball of the over is a bouncer that White ducks.
    Ireland 133/5 (RR: 3.59): Botha 26* (45), White 3* (5)

Taylor is back into the attack. He has four overs still in reserve.

Over 36: Botha blocks the final two balls of the over, and Ireland look like falling well short of a competitive total here.
    Ireland 129/5 (RR: 3.58): Botha 26* (44), White 0* (0)

Andrew White is the new batsman, but he won't be on strike as the batsmen crossed.

    WICKET!
    K O'Brien c Sarwan b Gayle 17 (46)

Botha eases down the ground for a single after two dot balls before O'Brien tries to play a big shot over the legside but can only sky the ball to Ramnaresh Sarwan at square-leg. That had been coming.

Over 35: Tidy enough start from Samuels, starting with two dot balls before conceding singles from the final four balls of the over.
    Ireland128/4 (RR: 3.66): Botha 25* (39), K O'Brien 17* (45)

Samuels is into the attack with his occasional offspin.

Over 34: O'Brien drives out to deep cover for a single, and Botha gets another run with a hoik to deep square-leg. O'Brien gets a single from the final ball of another tidy over for Gayle.
    Ireland 124/4 (RR: 3.65): Botha 23* (37), K O'Brien 15* (41)

Over 33: O'Brien puts away a long-hop from Bravo, pulling it impressively in front of square for four. A Lara misfield at cover gets O'Brien another single. Botha misses an attempted hook from a quicker short ball from Bravo, and ducks under another short ball that is called wide by Billy Bowden. Botha survives a strong lbw appeal with the ball pitching just outside leg before ducking yet another bouncer.
    Ireland 121/4 (RR: 3.67): Botha 22* (36), K O'Brien 13* (37)

Over 32: Botha cuts hard to deep point for a single, and O'Brien gets a quick single with a push to cover. Botha works to deep-backward square for another single, and O'Brien paddles a sweep on the legside for another run to make four from the over.
    Ireland 115/4 (RR: 3.59): Botha 22* (33), K O'Brien 8* (34)

Drinks. Good effort from the Windies here, starving Ireland of runs and picking up key wickets as the pressure grows.

Over 31: Fine shot from Botha, drving classically over Bravo's head for a welcome six runs. A leg-bye follows from the next ball before a becalmed O'Brien blocks the last three balls of the over.
    Ireland 111/4 (RR: 3.58): Botha 20* (31), K O'Brien 6* (29)

Over 30: Huge appeal for lbw from Gayle, but he caught O'Brien just outside the line. The fifth ball of the over gets O'Brien his first run in some time, while Botha adds another single from the final ball of a fine over.
    Ireland 104/4 (RR: 3.47): Botha 14* (28), K O'Brien 6* (26)

Over 29: O'Brien gets a thin inside edge into his pads that saves him from what would have been a certain lbw decision after playing back to one he should have been forward to. A well-directed bouncer has O'Brien swishing at thin air, and all the momentum is disappearing from this innings now. Ireland do get a run from the final ball of the over, but it's a leg-bye.
    Ireland 102/4 (RR: 3.52): Botha 13* (27), K O'Brien 5* (21)

Over 28: Another tidy over from Gayle, just a single coming from it.
    Ireland 101/4 (RR: 3.61): Botha 13* (27), K O'Brien 5* (15)

Over 27: O'Brien squirts a single to third-man, and Botha adds another with a defensive push to mid-on. The fifth ball of Bravo's over flicks off O'Brien's pads for a leg-bye that brings up the 100 to huge cheers.
    Ireland 100/4 (RR: 3.70): Botha 13* (25), K O'Brien 4* (11)

Over 26: Good start from Gayle, just two singles coming from his first over.
    Ireland 97/4 (RR: 3.73): Botha 12* (22), K O'Brien 3* (8)

    Gayle is into the attack.

Over 25: Bravo starts with a no-ball that O'Brien guides to third-man for a single. Botha gets two with a controlled drive to third-man before missing an attempted cut shot. He does get a single from the final ball of the over to keep the strike.
    Ireland 95/4 (RR: 3.80): Botha 11* (18), K O'Brien 2* (6)

Dwayne Bravo is into the attack.

Over 24: Taylor starts the over with a wide and then bowls a couple of accurate bouncers, on eof which strikes O'Brien on the shoulder. O'Brien hits to point and sets off on a very ill-judged run. O'Brien has given it up around halfway down the track, but luckily for him the throw misses the stumps. Botha gets two somewhat safer runs with a crisp drive through square-cover.
    Ireland 90/4 (RR: 3.75):Botha 8* (12), K O'Brien 1* (5)

Over 23: Botha gets four with a crashing drive through square-cover in an otherwise tidy over.
    Ireland 86/4 (RR: 3.74): Botha 6* (11), K O'Brien 0* (0)

Over 22: Kevin O'Brien is the new batsman for Ireland, who have some rebuilding to do now.
    Ireland 82/4 (RR: 3.62): Botha 2* (5), K O'Brien 0* (0)

    WICKET!
    J Bray c sub (Simmons) b Taylor 41 (72)

Botha plays at one he could have left, but the outside edge drops short of the slips. He does let the second ball go before squirting a single to third-man. Bray gets the ball through the same area, but slightly finer and it runs all the way to the fence. But Bray is then deceived by a slower ball, miscuing a drive straight to sub fielder Lendl Simmons at mid-off. Big wicket for West Indies, who are well on top here now.

Over 21: Botha works a short ball to leg for a single, and Bray blocks the last two balls of the over. Fine bowling from Bradshaw here.
    Ireland 77/3 (RR: 3.67): Bray 37* (69), Botha 1* (2)

Andre Botha is the new batsman for Ireland. He's bowled brilliantly in this tournament, but has just one run from two innings with the bat.

    WICKET!
    NJ O'Brien c Ramdin b Bradshaw 11 (19)

Bray gets a single to leg before O'Brien is done by a good ball from Bradshaw that moves away off the pitch, catches the outside edge and gives Ramdin an altogether simpler catch than the one he held earlier.

Over 20: Bray pushes to mid-off for a quick single, and O'Brien gets four with a classy cut shot behind point that beats the third-man fielder.
    Ireland 75/2 (RR: 3.75): Bray 36* (66), N O'Brien 11* (18)

Surprisingly, Powell is taken out of the attack after nine of his permitted overs. Taylor back on.

Over 19: Bray gets a thick outside edge to third-man for a single. O'Brien gets two from the final ball of the over with a shovelled pull into the legside.
    Ireland 70/2 (RR: 3.68): Bray 35* (64), N O'Brien 7* (14)

Over 18: Powell starts the over with a wide down the legside, and ends the over with a leg-stump half-volley that O'Brien whips through squar-leg for four runs. The five inbetween were pretty good.
    Ireland 67/2 (RR: 3.72): Bray 34* (63), N O'Brien 5* (9)

Over 17: O'Brien is off the mark third ball with a flick to long-leg. Bray is deceived by a clever slower ball, that beats the bat and bounces through to the keeper.
    Ireland 62/2 (RR: 3.65): Bray 34* (63), N O'Brien 1* (3)

Over 16: Bray is on strike as the batsmen crossed, and heplays out the over defensively. A wicket-maiden for Powell.
    Ireland 61/2 (RR: 3.81): Bray 34* (60), N O'Brien 0* (0)

Niall O'Brien is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    EJG Morgan c Ramdin b Powell 18 (34)

Morgan's frustration gets the better of him, and he top-edges a hook shot. It initially looks like Morgan might get away with it as the ball sails towards the boundary, but Ramdin turns and makes great ground to take the catch at full-stretch. Great work from the young keeper there.

Drinks. Ireland should be pretty pleased with their start here after losing Porterfield early. They're building a decent platform here for the middle-order to go on and set a decent total.

Over 15: Morgan is starting to get frustrated here, and tries to play a big shot over the legside but gets just a single. Bray blocks the final three balls of the over, a good one from Bradshaw.
    Ireland 61/1 (RR: 4.07): Bray 34* (57), Morgan 18* (31)

Over 14: Bigappeal for caught behind against Morgan, but the young left-hander missed that by some way. Poor shot though. Morgan gets a single to cover, before a bad dropped catch from Samuels at cover gives Bray a reprieve.
    Ireland 60/1 (RR: 4.29): Bray 34* (54), Morgan 17* (28)

Over 13: Another short ball outside the off stump, and Bray again smacks it through point for four. Bradshaw looks astonished, but I'm not sure why. Bad ball, fine shot, and he can't have failed to notice Bray's prowess in that area. A pull shot gets Bray two rare legside runs, and he's once again doing an excellent job for his side at the top of the order.
    Ireland 59/1 (RR: 4.54): Bray 34* (52), Morgan 16* (24)

Over 12: Morgan guides the ball to third-man for a single, before a good one from Powell beats Bray's defensive prod. Bray gets a single to third-man from the final ball of the of the over to keep the strike and bring up the 50 partnership. Better over from Powell though.
    Ireland 53/1 (RR: 4.42): Bray 28* (46), Morgan 16* (24)

Over 11: Morgan clips to leg for two runs to bring up Ireland's half-century. A firm push down the ground gets Morgan another single as Taylor parries at mid-on. Three balls in a row at Bray's body keep him from playing any aggressive shots. Was Powell watching?
    Ireland 51/1 (RR: 4.64): Bray 27* (41), Morgan 15* (23)

West Indies take the second powerplay.

Over 10: Powell still hasn't learned how to bowl to Bray, offering the Ireland opener another chance to unfurl his favourite square-cut to usual effect - a boundary. Three balls later, same ball, same result. Not clever bowling.
    Ireland 48/1 (RR: 4.80): Bray 27* (38), Morgan 12* (20)

Over 9: Tight over from Bradshaw, just two singles coming from it.
    Ireland 40/1 (RR: 4.44): Bray 19* (32), Morgan 12* (20)

Over 8: Short and wide is not the place to bowl to Bray, who happily smashes the ball over the point fielder for four runs as Powell feeds the shot.
    Ireland 38/1 (RR: 4.75): Bray 18* (31), Morgan 11* (15)

Over 7: Bray gets four with a glorious square drive threaded expertly between three fielders between gully and point. Bray gets the final ball of the over into the legside for a single to keep the strike.
    Ireland 34/1 (RR: 4.86): Bray 14* (25), Morgan 11* (15)

Ian Bradshaw is into the attack on his first appearance at this World Cup.

Over 6: Bray fends a short ball from Powell to third-man for a single, and Morgan adds another with a clip to square-leg off the pads. Bray defends into the legside and calls Morgan through for a quick single. Morgan blocks the final two balls of the over, and Ireland may have just ridden that early storm now.
    Ireland 29/1 (RR: 4.83): Bray 9* (19), Morgan 11* (15)

Over 5: Morgan clips through midwicket for two runs and adds a single with a deliberate shot to third-man. Bray mistimes a pull shot but gets a single from it. Morgan takes on a short ball from Taylor and gets a top edge over the keeper for a maximum. Definitely the luck of the Irish there...
    Ireland 26/1 (RR: 5.20): Bray 7* (17), Morgan 10* (11)

Over 4: Morgan gets a single to get off the mark, and Dwayne Smith makes a brilliant diving stop at midwicket to save four runs from a sweetly-timed flick through midwicket by Bray.
    Ireland 16/1 (RR: 4.00): Bray 6* (16), Morgan 1* (6)

Over 3: A rapid bouncer from Taylor flies past Bray's face, overDinesh Ramdin and away for four byes. Bray gets his first boundary with a flashing square-cut over point, and it's certainly been an entertaining start here in Jamaica.
    Ireland 15/1 (RR: 5.00): Bray 6* (12), Morgan 0* (4)

Over 2: Morgan's first delivery flicks off the pads for four leg-byes, and the rest of the over is played out defensively.
    Ireland 7/1 (RR: 3.50): Bray 2* (6), Morgan 0* (4)

Eoin Morgan is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    WTS Porterfield c Gayle b Powell 0 (2)

Second duck of the tournament for Porterfield as he gets an edge to a rising delivery to give Chris Gayle a comfortable catch at first slip.

Daren Powell will share the new ball.

Over 1: Taylor starts with a wide, but is soon right on target and giving Bray some problems with extra bounce. Bray does get off the mark from the final ball of the over, guiding the ball to third-man for two runs.
    Ireland 3/0 (RR: 3.00): Bray 2* (6), Porterfield 0* (0)

The players are out on the field for this crucial game. Jeremy Bray and William Porterfield are the opening batsman for Ireland. Jerome Taylor will bowl the first over for West Indies.

Ireland have won the toss and will bat. Kyle McCallan will captain the Irish side today, with inspirational skipper Trent Johnston ruled out with a shoulder injury.

Ireland have been in wonderful form throughout the tournament. They are hoping to cause another upset in the World Cup. The West Indies are wary of the Irish threat. It will surely be a passionate affair.

Both teams are through to the Super Eights. The winner of this match will carry their points into the next round.
