Over 35: Ramdin cuts beautifully through point for a boundary, then drives uppishly through the same region where Clarke nearly takes a catch, but they take a single. Lara late cuts for a single, as does Ramdin from next ball. Lara edges the final ball of the over, but Ponting misfields at short third man and they pick up a couple.

West Indies need 168 runs to win from 15 overs at 11.20 runs per over.

Over 34: Lara smashes Hogg's first ball for a massive six from the first of the over, then tries the same trick but doesn't get hold of it, and it drops just short of Hayden at long-off. Bracken is back into the attack.

Over 32: Hogg drops one very short that Lara late cuts to third man for a couple, then skips down the track and drives to mid-on for a single. Ramdin takes a quick single to point, and Hussey throws to the bowler's end, where it a rogue bounce catches Hogg in a rather unfortunate place. Lara takes a quick single from the last ball.

West Indies need 198 runs to win from 18 overs at 11.00 runs per over.

Over 31: Ramdin very nearly plays on first up, inside edging an attempted cut just past his stumps. He then plays a crunching drive between mid-off and extra-cover for another four, then works a single into the on side. Lara gets over a pull down to fine leg for a single from the last ball.
    West Indies 120/5 (RR: 3.87): Lara 51* (63), Ramdin 10* (12)
West Indies need 203 runs to win from 19 overs at 10.68 runs per over.

West Indies need 216 runs to win from 21 overs at 10.29 runs per over.

Drinks are taken, and Australia could have this wrapped up in very short time.

    WICKET!
    D Bravo c Ponting b McGrath 9 (10)

Lara drives down the ground for a single, before Bravo tries a huge heave over the off-side, but he doesn't get hold of it and it flies straight to Ponting at short cover. Poor shot from Bravo.

Over 28: Hogg goes up for a couple of ludicrous appeals - the first for a return catch that clearly bounced, the second and lbw that was going miles down leg. Lara takes a single next up, before Bravo cuts past point for three. Hogg bowls a leg side wide, then Lara goes down on one knee and tries a slog sweep that only garners a single.
    West Indies 106/4 (RR: 3.79): Lara 48* (58), Bravo 9* (9)
West Indies need 217 runs to win from 22 overs at 9.86 runs per over.

Over 27: Lara takes a quick single, before Bravo plays a beautiful on drive down the ground for four. He then takes a slightly risky single to point, before Lara takes a much safer one down the ground to long-off. West Indies need 223 runs to win from 23 overs at 9.70 runs per over.

McGrath is back into the attack, in place of Watson.

Over 26: Bravo tries a risky skip down the wicket from his third ball, but prods at it and almost gives a catch to slip. He tries a couple of back-foot pushes, but doesn't get off the mark.
    West Indies 91/4 (RR: 3.50): Lara 43* (51), Bravo 0* (4)
West Indies need 232 runs to win from 24 overs at 9.67 runs per over.

Dwayne Bravo is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    R Sarwan c Ponting b Hogg 29 (58)

Lara skips down the pitch and drives past the bowler for a single to long-off. Hogg then floats up an inviting full toss to Sarwan, who smacks it straight to Ponting at mid-wicket, who takes the catch without having to move an inch.

Over 25: Three singles are taken from the first three balls - two to Lara, one to Sarwan. Sarwan dances down the pitch and tries to welt one, but it goes straight to mid-off. He then latches on to a short one and pulls nicely to fine leg for four. Lara then send Sarwan back from what would have been a suicidal single to Hussey at point.
    West Indies 90/3 (RR: 3.60): Sarwan 29* (57), Lara 42* (50)
West Indies need 233 runs to win from 25 overs at 9.32 runs per over.

Over 24: Sarwan drives through the covers for a couple, then pushes down the pitch for a single. Lara does the same, as the rate creeps ever higher.
    West Indies 83/3 (RR: 3.46): Sarwan 24* (53), Lara 40* (48)
West Indies need 240 runs to win from 26 overs at 9.23 runs per over.

Brad Hogg is into the attack.

Over 23: Sarwan and Lara trade singles down the ground from the third and fourth balls, then Sarwan takes another from the final ball, as the rate creeps over nine per over.
    West Indies 79/3 (RR: 3.43): Sarwan 21* (48), Lara 39* (47)
West Indies need 244 runs to win from 27 overs at 9.04 runs per over.

Over 22: Sarwan drives uppishly over point for a single, then Tait slides down the leg side for another wide. Lara takes a brisk single to mid-on, then Sarwan cuts to deep point for another. Tait fires a very wide one outside off, then drops one short at Lara's body, who steps out of the way and helps it down to a very fine boundary for four. He then cracks another four through point, then edges past Gilchrist trying to hit through mid-wicket for a third four.
    West Indies 76/3 (RR: 3.45): Sarwan19* (43), Lara 38* (46)
West Indies need 247 runs to win from 28 overs at 8.82 runs per over.

Over 21: Ponting almost runs out Lara backing up at the non-striker's end, then Sarwan takes a brisk single to mid-on. Lara misses with a huge swipe from a slightly short one, then makes no such mistake with a crunching drive through the covers for four.
    West Indies 59/3 (RR: 2.80): Sarwan 17* (41), Lara 25* (42)
West Indies need 264 runs to win from 29 overs at 9.10 runs per over.

Over 20: Lara takes a massive swipe at a leg side short one from Tait, but he misses, it goes through to Gilchrist and a wide is called. Lara then is quickly on to a slightly short one from Tait and smacks a pull through the on-side for a boundary. He tries the charge next up, but Tait sees him coming and bowls a straight, short one to cramp Lara for room.
    West Indies 54/3 (RR: 2.70): Sarwan 16* (38), Lara 21* (39)
West Indies need 269 runs to win from 30 overs at 8.97 runs per over.

Over 19: Chance goes down for Australia. Sarwan mis-cues a hook, and Hussey dives to his right at mid-wicket, gets two hands to it but drops. Sarwan takes a quick single, then Lara creams a Watson slower ball through the covers for four. He tries to repeat the trick next up, but Symonds half-stops and they can only take a single.
    West Indies 49/3 (RR: 2.58): Sarwan 16* (38), Lara 17* (33)
West Indies need 274 runs to win from 31 overs at 8.84 runs per over.

Over 18: Tait keeps it tight with his usual mix of very full and short balls. Sarwan clips a single from the last ball. Good return over from Tait.
    West Indies 43/3 (RR: 2.39): Sarwan 15* (35), Lara 12* (30)
West Indies need 280 runs to win from 32 overs at 8.75 runs per over.

Tait is back into the attack in place of McGrath.

Over 17: Sarwan cuts through a pair of points for two, then works a single into the on-side. Lara tries a powerful drive from the last ball of the over, but it goes straight to cover and no run is taken.
    West Indies 42/3 (RR: 2.47): Sarwan 14* (29), Lara 12* (30)
West Indies need 281 runs to win from 33 overs at 8.56 runs per over.

Over 16: Lara cracks a great cover drive to the ropes for four first up, showing what happens when you give him some width. McGrath comes back well, keeping the remaining five balls tight and no more runs are conceded.
    West Indies 39/3 (RR: 2.44): Sarwan 11* (27), Lara 12* (26)
West Indies need 284 runs to win from 34 overs at 8.35 runs per over.

Australia take the third and final powerplay.

Drinks are taken, with Australia firmly in control.

Over 15: Sarwan takes one from outside off and flicks through mid-wicket for a couple. He gets a single with a similar shot just wide of mid-on, then Lara helps a single round the corner to fine leg.
    West Indies 35/3 (RR: 2.33): Sarwan 11* (27), Lara 8* (20)
West Indies need 288 runs to win from 35 overs at 8.23 runs per over.

Over 14: Sarwan takes a single first up, then Lara carefully defends the next three. He gets a well-run three with a nice turn through the leg side, then Sarwan mis-times a crunched drive through the off side for another three. A better over for the West Indies.
    West Indies 31/3 (RR: 2.21): Sarwan 6* (22), Lara 7* (19)
West Indies need 292 runs to win from 36 overs at 8.11 runs per over.

Over 13: Lara gets a single with a very rapid single to square leg, but adirect hit from Hussey meant he was scrambling. Sarwan guides another single down to third man from the last ball of the over, but the asking rate has crept above eight an over now.
    West Indies 24/3 (RR: 1.85): Sarwan 5* (21), Lara 3* (13)
West Indies need 299 runs to win from 37 overs at 8.08 runs per over.

Shane Watson is into the attack in place of Bracken.

Over 12: Lara gets a single off his hips down to fine leg from ball four, and Sarwan gets nothing from the last two balls.
    West Indies 22/3 (RR: 1.83): Sarwan 4* (19), Lara 2* (10)
West Indies need 301 runs to win from 38 overs at 7.92 runs per over.

Over 11: Lara tries to get his third ball away into the leg side, but such is the tight line bowled by Bracken he can't. He manages to gets off the mark from the last ball with a wristy turn down to fine leg.
    West Indies 21/3 (RR: 1.91): Sarwan 4* (17), Lara 1* (6)
West Indies need 302 runs to win from 39 overs at 7.74 runs per over.

    Australia take the second powerplay.

Over 10: The batsmen crossed while the ball was in the air - they probably could've run two or three before that one came down - so Samuels blocks the last two balls of the over.
    West Indies 20/3 (RR: 2.00): Sarwan 4* (17), Lara 0* (0)
West Indies need 303 runs to win from 40 overs at 7.58 runs per over.

Brian Lara is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    M Samuels c Symonds b McGrath 4 (8)

Samuels goes some way to breaking the shackles by getting off the mark with a lovely drive through the covers for four. Perhaps a little giddy, Samuels then tries to come down the pitch to McGrath and smash a six, but only manages to sky it high, high in the air, and Symonds has to wait for a long time before taking the catch.

Over 9: Bracken applies more pressure by keeping the whole over very tight to Sarwan, including an inswinger that results in a hopeful lbw shout. That's the second over in a row, and West Indies are struggling in the early stages.
    West Indies 16/2 (RR: 1.77): Sarwan 4* (15), Samuels 0* (4)
West Indies need 307 runs to win from 41 overs at 7.49 runs per over.

Over 8: McGrath gets one to really leap up, hitting Samuels on the shoulder. Samuels tries an expansive drive next up, but it's stopped in the covers, and no runs come from the rest of the over - a wicket maiden.
    West Indies 16/2 (RR: 2.00): Sarwan 4* (9), Samuels 0* (4)
West Indies need 307 runs to win from 42 overs at 7.31 runs per over.

Marlon Samuels is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    C Gayle c Watson b McGrath 2 (23)

Predictably enough, McGrath is on the mark straight away. He then gets a frustrated Gayle to hook a short one, which goes straight up in the air off a top edge, and Watson swoops in from mid-wicket to take a simple catch.

Glenn McGrath is into the attack in place of Tait.

Over 7: Bracken keeps it very tight to Gayle, giving him none of the room that he usually thrives on. Gayle takes a single down to fine leg from the last ball, but this task is getting even tougher for West Indies.
    West Indies 16/1 (RR: 2.29): Gayle 2* (21), Sarwan 4* (9)
West Indies need 307 runs to win from 43 overs at 7.14 runs per over.

Over 6: Sarwan gets a couple down to fine leg with a nice glance, then Tait gets one to rear up at him and he struggles to keep it down. A nice straight drive from Sarwan gets nothing after a fine diving stop by Ponting at mid-off, then he misses with a swiped attemptedcut. Another single is denied with a sharp stop at mid-wicket by Hussey.
    West Indies 15/1 (RR: 2.50): Gayle 1* (15), Sarwan 4* (9)
West Indies need 308 runs to win from 44 overs at 7.00 runs per over.

Over 5: Bracken is in again, and Sarwan plays an uncertain shot, but gets a single with an edge down to third man. Gayle blocks out the rest of the over, and this has been a good start for Australia.
    West Indies 13/1 RR: 2.60): Gayle 1* (15), Sarwan 2* (3)
West Indies need 310 runs to win from 45 overs at 6.89 runs per over.

Over 4: Sarwan gets off the mark first up with an inside edge to square leg.
    West Indies 12/1 RR: 3.00): Gayle 1* (11), Sarwan 1* (1)
West Indies need 311 runs to win from 46 overs at 6.76 runs per over.

Ramneresh Sarwan is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    S Chanderpaul lbw b Tait 5 (12)

Tait gets one to whistle past Gayle's nose first up, then follows up with a trademark inswinging yorker, which Gayle just keeps out. Gayle gets off the mark with a straight push from another full one for a single. Tait bangs in another short one to Chanderpaul, who is late on the shot and gets a toe-end on a pull, and it goes over the bowler's head for a couple. He tries a big cut at the next ball, but he misses and it's called a wide. Tait follows up with another quick full one that Chanderpaul plays all around, and the finger goes up. Replays show that was missing off by a distance, so Chanderpaul is very unlucky there.

Over 3: Chanderpaul plays a lovely pushed drive through the covers for two, before surviving a close lbw shout that was probably just missing off. The rest of the over is tight and on target, and no more runs are scored.
    West Indies 7/0 (RR: 2.33): Gayle 0* (8), Chanderpaul 3* (10)
West Indies need 316 runs to win from 47 overs at 6.72 runs per over.

Over 2: Like Bracken, Tait opens with a leg side wide, but there was plenty of swing on that one. After a couple that are bang on target, Tait chucks in another leg side wide, then a decent one outside off, and then yet another leg side wide. Chanderpaul takes the first runs off the bat with a clipped single off his toes down to fine leg. Tait almost gets through Gayle with a couple of quick yorkers, but he keeps them out to end an over that sums Tait up - erratic, but sometimes threatening.
    West Indies 5/0 (RR: 2.50): Gayle 0* (8), Chanderpaul 1* (4)
West Indies need 318 runs to win from 48 overs at 6.63 runs per over.

Shaun Tait will share the new ball.

Over 1: Bracken opens with a leg side wide, then comes back well with a jaffa that pitches on off and moves away, beating Gayle all ends up. He follows up with an even better one, pitched up more, and drawing Gayle into a full-blooded drive, that he just fails to nick. Gayle lets the remainder of an excellent opening over go by outside off.
    West Indies 1/0 (RR: 1.00): Gayle 0* (6), Chanderpaul 0* (0)
West Indies need 322 runs to win from 49 overs at 6.57 runs per over.

Nathan Bracken will open the bowling for Australia.

Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul will open the innings for West Indies.

The players are making their way out onto the field at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

Wednesday 1415: Welcome back for the resumption of the West Indies v Australia Super Eights match.

The sun is shining, so hopefully there will be no interruptions to the host's run chase. They need 323 to win from their 50 overs, at 6.46 runs per over.

2110 BST: The groundstaffreckon that it will take 25-30 minutes to clear the ground once it has stopped raining, which it hasn't as yet.

That means play has been suspended for the day, and the teams will be back tomorrow when the West Indies still need 323 to win from the full 50 overs.

Check back tomorrow for live, over-by-over coverage.

2105 BST: Ah. Word from Antigua is that the rain is back. with only another 15 minutes until the cutoff point that will probably be that for the day.

2055 BST: Some encouragement from Antigua - the covers appear to be coming off and Lara & Ponting are inspecting the ground. We could have a start, albeit with dramatically reduced overs, for the West Indies' run chase.

2030 BST: Oh well. The players seem to have disappeared into the dry pavillion, and the rain continues to fall.

2013 BST: This looks more promising - some Australian players are patrolling the ground, the umpires are out and a super-sopper looks like it has been pressed into action, so we could be back soon.

2010 BST: 2120 BST is the cutoff point for any play to take place this evening. If the rain prevents any cricket before that time, then

2005 BST: Frustratingly, the rain in Antigua doesn't look that heavy, but quite steady, so we could be in for a bit of a wait.

The rain continues to fall, so no cricket for the moment.

Unfortunately the rain seems to have set in at the Viv Richards Stadium, so we could be waiting for a while. Keep checking back for updates.

The lunch break was scheduled to be just ten minutes to make up for the rain break and the West Indies slow over rate, but there is still some rain in the air, so play won't get underway just yet.

    Australia: 322/6 (50 overs)
West Indies need 323 to win at 6.46 runs per over.

A tremendous knock from Australia, and more specifically Matthew Hayden, whose 158 was exceptional. They have had problems defending this sort of total before, but this is a massive ask for Brian Lara's men.

Over 50: Bravo bowls a slow, slower ball that was so far outside off that if Watson had left it alone it would have been a wide, but he edged along the ground to Ramdin. The next ball is a leg side wide, before a slower full toss is swatted over mid-wicket for four. Watson then smacks another four through the covers, before clubbing a single to long-on. Hogg misses a slog-sweep, and Watson scampers through for a bye. Watson mullers the last ball over the covers for another four.
    Australia 322/6 (RR: 6.27): Watson 33* (26), Hogg 5* (6)

Over 49: Watson gets an edged single down to third man. Hogg plays a jabbed cut to deep point for a couple, then drives a full toss to long-on for another two. Collymore almost gets through with a yorker, but Hogg digs it out and they scamper a single. Watson tries another scoop/sweep, misses again and they take a leg-bye off his front pad.
    Australia 307/6 (RR: 6.27): Watson 20* (21), Hogg 5* (5)

Over 48: Watson tries a repeat of that scoop/sweep six but misses, and the ball gets lodged in his pads. A slower ball from Bravo then flummoxes Watson, and is a whisker away from off stump. Watson smears the ball along the ground to long-off for a single, then Hogg takes a leg-bye. Watson digs out an excellent yorker from Bravo from the last ball and gets a single to bring up the 300.
    Australia 300/6 (RR: 6.25): Watson 19* (19), Hogg 0* (1)

Brad Hogg is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    M Hayden c Samuels b Bravo 158 (143)

Hayden goes for another huge shot over long-off, but this time doesn't quite get hold of it and Samuels takes an easy catch on the boundary. A fantastic innings fromHayden.

Dwayne Bravo is back into the attack.

Over 47: Hayden starts where he left off, clubbing to long-off where Smith lets it through his legs for four. He takes a single to fine leg, then Watson drops to one knee and plays a magnificent scooped sweep over the fine leg ropes for six.
    Australia 297/5 (RR: 6.19): Hayden 158* (142), Watson 17* (15)

Corey Collymore to complete the 47th over.

The covers are off and the players are back out.

Over 47.2: Hayden takes a rapid single, before Watson swings and misses, but they scamper a leg-bye. Then, it seems I spoke too soon - the rain has become too heavy, and they go off.
    Australia 286/5 (RR: 6.17): Hayden 153* (140), Watson 11* (13)

The rain is back, but presumably they will stay on for the last three overs.

Corey Collymore is back into the attack.

Over 46: Watson takes a single down to long-on, before Hayden belts a low full toss past long-on for another four. He then plays a very clever dab down to the third man ropes for another four, before bringing up his 150 with another huge smear over wide mid-on for six. A no-ball follows, before Hayden takes a brisk single to short fine-leg off the final ball of the over.
    Australia 284/5 (RR: 6.17): Hayden 152* (139), Watson 11* (12)

Over 45: Watson carves a quick single to point first up, before Hayden clubs one just over the long-on fielder for six. He then plays another lofted smash over wide mid-off for a one bounce four. Taylor comes around the wicket next up, but it does no good as Hayden smears another huge shot straight for another six. Hayden then calms down and guides a single to third man next ball, before Watson drives down the ground for a single. 19 from the over.
    Australia 267/5 (RR: 5.93): Hayden 137* (133), Watson 10* (11)

Over 44: Watson turns a single into mid-wicket, before Hayden misses with a massive heave. He connects with the next ball, but can only take a single to the fielder in the deep on the off side. Watson gets another quick single, but nothing more comes from a tight over from Samuels.
    Australia 248/5 (RR: 5.64): Hayden 120* (129), Watson 8* (9)

Over 43: Taylor starts off with a leg-stump half-volley that Watson clips down to fine-leg for a single. Hayden grabs a quick couple with a guide down to wide third man, before driving a full-toss to the cover boundary sweeper for a single. Watson flicks another full-toss off his pads down to deep square leg, before taking a quick single off the final ball of the over.
    Australia 245/5 (RR: 5.70): Hayden 119* (125), Watson 6* (7)

Jerome Taylor is into the attack.

Over 42: Hayden clips a single off his toes, then Watson gets off the mark with a drive down to long-on. Hayden takes a single through point, before Watson does the same to mid-wicket.
    Australia 238/5 (RR: 5.67): Hayden 116* (123), Watson 2* (3)

Over 41: Watson blocks the last ball of an expensive but successful over for the West Indies.
    Australia 234/5 (RR: 5.70): Hayden 114* (119), Watson 0* (1)

Shane Watson is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    M Hussey b Powell 9 (18)

Hayden clubs two boundaries over mid-off, then second of which goes for four just over the head of Sarwan on the ropes. He badly misjudged that one, and should've taken the catch. Hayden clips a single off his toes, before Hussey cuts through the off side for a couple. Hussey then tries to chase a wide one from Powell, but only succeeds in dragging back on to his stumps.

Over 40: Hayden takes a single down to long-off, then Samuels bowls a big off-side wide to Hussey. Hussey clips a fullball to long-on for another single, before Hayden plays through point for another one. Hussey tries a cut outside off but gets nowhere near it, and that was a decent over at this stage.
    Australia 223/4 (RR: 5.58): Hayden 105* (116), Hussey 7* (16)

Over 39: Hussey is quickly on to a short one from Powell and pulls it off the front foot over wide mid-one for four. He then takes a single down to long-off, then Hayden edges along the ground to third man, and they take a brisk two. Hayden does well to dig out a toe-crushing yorker from Powell next up, before smashing into the off side where Lara makes a good stop, saving three runs as they scamper through for a single. Powell then beats the bat with one that nipped away from Hussey from the final ball.
    Australia 219/4 (RR: 5.62): Hayden 103* (113), Hussey 6* (13)

    Hayden hundred off 110 balls, 4x8, 1x6.

Over 38: Hayden brings up a wonderful hundred by pushing to long-off for a single. After an uncertain start, this has been a magnificent innings. Hussey struggles to get off the mark from a tight over by Samuels, but manages it with a push down to long-off from the last ball.
    Australia 211/4 (RR: 5.55): Hayden 100* (110), Hussey 1* (10)

Over 37: Hayden drops a quick single into the off-side, then Powell keeps it tight to Hussey for the rest of the over.
    Australia 209/4 (RR: 5.65): Hayden 99* (109), Hussey 0* (5)

Daren Powell is back into the attack.

    Over 36:
    Australia 208/4 (RR: 5.77): Hayden 98* (108), Hussey 0* (0)

Mike Hussey is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    A Symonds c Ramdin b Samuels 13 (18)

Symonds pushes down to long-off, and some sharp running brings them a couple. Symonds clips down to long-on for a single, then Hayden does the same for another two. He takes another single down to long-off, before Symonds plays a nothing shot outside off stump and feathers through to Ramdin. Symonds was furious with himself, and rightly so - that was a poor shot.

Over 35: Hayden on-drives for a quick single, then Bravo drops a slower ball far too short, and Symonds rocks back and clubs it over wide mid-on for a boundary. Symonds brings up the 200 with a clip down to fine leg. Hayden repeats that shot, before Symonds late cuts for another single.
    Australia 202/3 (RR: 5.77): Hayden 95* (105), Symonds 10* (15)

Over 34: Symonds carefully pushes a single just backward of point, before Hayden gets another quick one through mid-off. Symonds pushes another single to mid-wicket, before Hayden moves into the nineties with a flat-batted club down the ground for four. He completes another good over for Australia with a single into the off-side.
    Australia 194/3 (RR: 5.71): Hayden 93* (103), Symonds 4* (11)

Over 33: Symonds blocks a couple, before Bravo slides down the leg side and a wide is signalled. Symonds then plays an extraordinary shot, seemingly deciding to duck under a short one from Bravo, but spotting it isn't especially quick, he swats the ball off one knee to the deep mid-wicket fielder for a single. After some more slightly uncertain calling almost runs Symonds out at the non-striker's end, Hayden clips down to fine leg for a couple.
    Australia 186/3 (RR: 5.64): Hayden 87* (100), Symonds 2* (8)

Over 32: Hayden drives into the off side for a single. Symonds gets off the mark by clipping a leg side delivery to fine leg for one. Hayden then dances down the track and gets nowhere near the pitch of the ball, takes one hand off the bat but it still sails over the bowler for a straight six. Remarkable.
    Australia 182/3 (RR: 5.69): Hayden 85* (98), Symonds 1* (4)

Over 31: Symonds survives a massive lbw shout first up, but it was just sliding down leg.
    Australia 174/3 (RR: 5.61): Hayden 78* (95), Symonds 0* (1)

Andrew Symonds is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    M Clarke lbw b Bravo 41 (47)

Clarke turns into mid-wicket for a comfortable single, something that Hayden repeats next ball. Bravo tries to flummox Clarke with a slower ball, but he waits for it and clips behind square on the leg side for one. Hayden tucks another single through mid-wicket, before Clarke plays around one from Bravo that nips back off the seam and the finger goes up. Big breakthrough for the West Indies.

Over 30: Hayden milks another single, as does Clarke two balls later. Hayden cuts aggressively through the covers but can only take a single, then Clarke drives to long-on for another. Hayden closes another decent over by taking a quick couple through mid-wicket.
    Australia 170/2 (RR: 5.66): Hayden 76* (93), Clarke 39* (44)

Marlon Samuels is into the attack.

Over 29: Hayden tries another heave that only musters a single to long-on, before Clarke waits for a slower ball from Bravo and drives for a single. Hayden tucks yet another single into the on-side, as does Clarke from the next ball. Hayden clips another single to fine-leg, then Clarke comes quickly through for two to square leg.
    Australia 164/2 (RR: 5.59): Hayden 72* (90), Clarke 37* (41)

Over 28: Hayden takes a step or two down the pitch and fairly bludgeons one over mid-on for a four. Gayle then bowls another no-ball, which Hayden turns fine past short fine-leg for a couple. He takes another couple of steps down next up, and inside edges on to his pads, which is still enough for them to pick up two. He goes for a big one from ball four, but can only inside edge for a single. Clarke takes another to long-off, before another Hayden single caps a very profitable over for Australia.
    Australia 157/2 (RR: 5.61): Hayden 69* (87), Clarke 33* (38)

Over 27: Clarke pushes a single into the off-side from the back foot for a single, before Hayden takes another quick one to mid-wicket. Clarke turns a pull down to fine-leg, and they do very well to come back for a second run. He then takes one step forward and one to the leg-side, and crunches a drive over wide mid-off for a boundary. He then pushes another quick two into the leg-side, before a slower ball produces a welcome dot-ball for Bravo.
    Australia 145/2 (RR: 5.37): Hayden 59* (81), Clarke 32* (37)

Dwayne Bravo is into the attack.

Over 26: Clarke tries to turn the first two into the on side with no success, then turns his attentions to the off side, where he gets a single behind square. Hayden drives to long-off for a single, before Clarke does the same to long-on. Hayden plays a nice late cut for a couple, and the batsmen sensibly check themselves before going for a suicidal third.
    Australia 135/2 (RR: 5.19): Hayden 58* (80), Clarke 23* (32)

Over 25: Hayden clips nicely into the leg side for a couple first up. He then tries to give himself room by backing away to the leg side, but Collymore follows him. However, they still manage to sneak a leg bye. Clarke drives firmly to point, where Smith makes a sharp stop, then miscues another drive along the ground to third man for a single.
    Australia 130/2 (RR: 5.20): Hayden 55* (78), Clarke 21* (28)

There is still some rain in the air, but it is pretty light and there looks to have been no discussion of going off.

Over 24: Hayden takes a quick couple, before dancing down the pitch and driving low past the bowler for four to bring up his fifty. He takes a single to thirdman, and oddly that is the moment when the crowd choose to acknowledge his knock, as he ticks on to 53. Clarke takes another single with a late cut, before a leg before shout against Hayden is thwarted by a big inside edge, and they take another single.
    Australia 126/2 (RR: 5.25): Hayden 53* (75), Clarke 20* (25)

Over 23: Hayden mis-times a pull down to fine leg, and they take a single. Clarke takes a good quick single, then Collymore and Ramdin go up wildly for a leg side catch appeal, but umpire Asif Rauf has little to do with it, and calmly signals a wide instead. Hayden takes another quick single, before Clarke beautifully flicks through wide mid-one for a boundary.
    Australia 117/2 (RR: 5.09): Hayden 45* (70), Clarke 19* (24)

Corey Collymore is back into the attack.

Over 22: Clarke tucks a single to mid-wicket first ball from Gayle, then Hayden nearly gets into a terrible mess leaving one outside off. He then skips down the pitch and tries to clip over mid-wicket but misses and almost falls over in the process. Gayle inexplicably bowls a no-ball, and Hayden takes a single down to long-on from the extra delivery.
    Australia 109/2 (RR: 4.95): Hayden 43* (68), Clarke 14* (20)

Chris Gayle is into the attack, and in maverick style, will bowl wearing his cap.

Over 21: Hayden tucks a couple into the off side, before taking a few steps down and pulling in front of square for another boundary, and that's the hundred up for Australia. He repeats the shot a couple of balls later, and he looks in cracking touch now after a slightly scratchy start.
    Australia 106/2 (RR: 5.05): Hayden 42* (62), Clarke 13* (19)

It looks like there are a few spots of rain around in Antigua, alas.

Daren Powell is back into the attack.

Over 20: Hayden takes a couple of steps down the track, but can only get a single to square leg after Collymore drops short. Clarke blocks a few before advancing and driving comfortably over mid-on for four.
    Australia 96/2 (RR: 4.80): Hayden 32* (56), Clarke 13* (19)

Over 19: Clarke follows Hayden's sensible lead by saying 'No mate' to a couple of single chances. He gets his reward from ball three by wristily flicking just past mid-on, and the ball trickles to the ropes. Clarke then pushes a slower ball past Chris Gayle at cover point, and a comfortable single is taken. Hayden pushes off the back foot to mid-on, and they run through for another relatively comfortable single.
    Australia 91/2 (RR: 4.79): Hayden 31* (54), Clarke 9* (15)

Over 18: Hayden - perhaps chastened by the multitude of run out chances - turns down three singles, before pushing two through mid-wicket from ball four. Another quick single isn't taken, before he blocks the last ball of a tight over from Collymore.
    Australia 85/2 (RR: 4.72): Hayden 30* (53), Clarke 4* (10)

Over 17: Clarke takes yet another ill-advised single to mid-off, and again would've been out if Chanderpaul's throw was on target. They take another very rapid one to point, where Dwayne Smith makes an excellent diving stop. And yet again, a run out chance - Hayden looks for a single after Clarke hit to mid-on, is sent back, but would've been well short if Lara had hit the stumps. They can only get away with running like that so many times.
    Australia 83/2 (RR: 4.88): Hayden 28* (47), Clarke 4* (10)

Over 16: Hayden hooks in the air towards deep backward square, but it lands in front of the fielder and they take a single. Clarke guides one through point and they take a couple, before notching upanother to fine leg.
    Australia 81/2 (RR: 5.06): Hayden 27* (46), Clarke 3* (5)

West Indies take the third and final powerplay.

Over 15: More ropey running from the Australians - Hayden drops the next ball into the covers, where Samuels picks up and throws inches away from the stumps at the keeper's end. If it hit then Clarke would've been out by a distance without facing a ball. He blocks the final ball of an eventful over.
    Australia 77/2 (RR: 5.13): Hayden 26* (44), Clarke 0* (1)

Michael Clarke is the new batsman.

    WICKET!
    R Ponting run out (Sarwan) 35 (36)

Taylor comes around the wicket to Hayden, who tucks the second ball to short fine-leg for a quick single. Ponting then goes for one quick single too many, pushing to Sarwan at mid-off who throws superbly - with just one stump to aim at - to run the Australian captain out with a foot to spare.

Over 14: Ponting tucks a single through square leg for a single, before Hayden plays a similar shot, but gets two for it. Collymore is penalised for a slight leg side wide, and Hayden pushes a single to mid-on from the extra ball.
    Australia 75/1 (RR: 5.36): Hayden 24* (41) Ponting 35* (34)

Over 13: Hayden guides a single down to third man first up. Ponting gets yet another four with a remarkable shot, taking half a step down the pitch, spotting a slightly shorter length then playing a short-arm jabbed pull off the front foot, in front of square for four. A big score could be on the cards for Ponting here. He gets a spot of luck off the last ball, inside edging a drive just past his stumps for a single.
    Australia 70/1 (RR: 5.38): Hayden 21* (36) Ponting 34* (33)

Jerome Taylor is back into the attack.

Over 12: Hayden takes a single from the second ball, before Ponting clips another through the leg side. Hayden then takes another quick single from the last ball of a quieter over.
    Australia 64/1 (RR: 5.33): Hayden 20* (35) Ponting 29* (28)/b>

Over 11: Hayden drops a quick single into mid-wicket after watching a couple. Ponting gets a wide full-toss from the final ball, which he just bunts through the covers and to the ropes.
    Australia 61/1 (RR: 5.55): Hayden 18* (30) Ponting 28* (27)

West Indies take the second powerplay straight away.

Over 10: Ponting drops what looked like an easy single wide of mid-on, but Hayden was having none of it and belatedly sent his captain back. Ponting makes it with room to spare, and tries to make up for it by lashing one through point, but Dwayne Bravo makes a great stop. Ponting has more success with the final two balls, driving one just over mid-off for four, then clipping a leg stump half-volley over square leg for another.
    Australia 56/1 (RR: 5.60): Hayden 17* (27) Ponting 24* (24)

Corey Collymore is into the attack in place of Taylor.

Over 9: Hayden plays the first couple carefully, before hitting a slightly mis-timed drive through the covers for three. Ponting drops a single, before Hayden takes a step down the pitch and clubs over the bowler's head for four.
    Australia 48/1 (RR: 5.33): Hayden 17* (27) Ponting 16* (18)

Over 8: Hayden gets two boundaries through wide mid-off with identical front foot drives. Neither was perfectly timed, but they did the job. He drops a single into the off side, and Ponting plays out the last couple.
    Australia 40/1 (RR: 4.44): Hayden 10* (23) Ponting 15* (16)

Over 7: Ponting drives beautifully straightback down the ground, but the stumps at the bowler's end stop a certain four. He takes a couple from the fourth ball, before latching on to a short one early and simply helping it over the fine leg ropes for six. Cracking shot.
    Australia 31/1 (RR: 4.43): Hayden 1* (19) Ponting 15* (14)

Over 6: Taylor slides down leg side for another wide, then Hayden finally gets off the mark with a push into the off side. Taylor goes leg side once again, Ponting clips towards the ropes but Chanderpaul makes a great stop on the boundary to limit them to two. Ponting drives down the ground from ball five, and it is half-stopped before it can reach the ropes and they take three.
    Australia 23/1 (RR: 3.83): Hayden 1* (19), Ponting 7* (8)

Over 5: Powell strays down the leg side first up to Ponting, and it clips his pads flies to the ropes past Ramdin for four leg byes. He gets a couple from his last ball, but that was still a good over for the West Indies.
    Australia 16/1 (RR: 2.50): Hayden 0* (16), Ponting 2* (5)

    WICKET!
    A Gilchrist c Ramdin b Powell 7 (9)

Powell strikes with the first ball of over 5. It's a brilliant ball that is fast and jumps and cuts back at Gilchrist, who in fact does pretty well to get anywhere near it. Unfortunately for him he just gets an inside edge through to Ramdin, who takes an excellent catch.

Over 4: Taylor strays onto Gilchrist's legs first up, and he clips through straight mid-wicket for three. Hayden fishes for one outside off and gets nowhere near it, then Taylor beats him with an absolute jaffa next ball. Hayden gets behind the remaining three, but doesn't look certain in the slightest.
    Australia 10/0 (RR: 2.50): Gilchrist 7* (8), Hayden 0* (16)

Over 3: Hayden lets the first three go just outside his off-stump, before pushing two straighter ones back down the pitch to Powell. He leaves the last ball, and that ends a very tidy maiden from Powell.
    Australia 7/0 (RR: 2.33): Gilchrist 4* (7), Hayden 0* (11)

Over 2: Taylor's first ball swings a fair way, but it went down the leg side, and a wide is called. Next ball is bang on target, and Gilchrist looked a touch uncertain driving to Lara at mid-off. After Gilchrist pushes at another two, Taylor repeats his first ball wide, and doens't look pleased with himself. Gilchrist then tucks the first runs from the bat off his hip, taking a couple to deep square leg. Taylor then gets one to hold it's line and Gilchrist flashes and misses outside off. Great comeback. He's more successful from the final ball of the over, slightly mis-timing a drive through the covers for another two.
    Australia 7/0 (RR: 3.50): Gilchrist 4* (7), Hayden 0* (5)

Jerome Taylor will share the new ball.

Over 1: Powell gets one to rear and hit Gilchrist first up, but he takes a leg bye to fine leg. Hayden pushes at his first couple, before Powell gets another to rise and cut back slightly. Hayden left that one on length, but it was a little closer to his stumps than he would've liked. Next ball is driven into the covers, where Marlon Samuels makes a good stop. Good first over from Powell.
    Australia 1/0 (RR: 1.00): Gilchrist 0* (1), Hayden 0* (5)

Daren Powell will open the bowling for West Indies.

Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist will open the batting for Australia.

The players are on their way out on to the field at the Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua.

    Teams:

Australia: Gilchrist (wkt), Hayden, Ponting (capt), Clarke, Hussey, Symonds, Watson, Hogg, Bracken, Tait, McGrath.

WestIndies: Gayle, Chanderpaul, Sarwan, Samuels, Lara (capt), Bravo, Smith, Ramdin (wkt), Taylor, Powell, Collymore.

Australia are unchanged from their win against South Africa, with Andrew Symonds continuing to test his injured bicep. West Indies make one switch, with Corey Collymore coming in for Ian Bradshaw.

West Indies captain Brian Lara has won the toss, and has asked Australia to bat first. Could be a smart move given the early help that the pitches have given bowlers in the tournament thus far, and Australia's problems with defending totals in recent times (the last match against South Africa excepted).

Afternoon, and welcome to the first Super Eight game between the hosts and the holders in Antigua.
