Time for the chase.

Dinner break!

West Indies: 230 for five (50 overs)
Bangladesh need 231 to win at 4.62 runs per over

Alright, it's one of those totals that are neither her nor there. The hosts would havefancied a bit more no doubt but things could have been a lot worse had it not been for Sarwan, Chanderpaul and to a degree, Lara. The Bangladeshi slow-bowlers did a good job again with paceman Rasel coming in for a bit of tap upon his return to the side. One still backs the Windies to defend this total, but a good start from the minnows and we could have another upset on our hands. Stick around for the chase.

Over 50: Mortaza holds his nerve in the last over of the innings, going for just seven runs. Bravo drives fro two after which the Windies duo get five singles off the last five balls. Sarwan failing to middle a couple of lusty blows and Bravo doing the same. 30 runs in the last three overs - that'll do the Windies will reckon.
West Indies 230/5 (RR: 4.60): Sarwan 91* (90), Bravo 9* (9)

Over 49: Bravo wisely takes the single and leaves the rest of the over to Sarwan who duly obliges. Two on the drive, six clubbed over long-on, two to deep point, two to the sweeper-cover and then another two to extra cover. Awesome stroke-play. Sarwan now with one over to get to his ton...11 runs to go.
West Indies 223/5 (RR: 4.55): Sarwan 89* (88), Bravo 4* (5)

Over 48: In a period calling for slogs, Sarwan whips out the most textbook cover-drive and gathers himself four runs for his prowess. He then times sweetly for two following a brace of singles but his running between the wickets is a tad on the slow side and he is almost found wanting. Alas, he makes his ground just in time and lives on. When batting for such a length as Sarwan has done today, you'd expect him to finish with a flourish - Windies fans hoping this will indeed be the case.
West Indies 208/5 (RR: 4.33): Sarwan 75* (83), Bravo 3* (4)

Over 47: Three runs off the remainder of the over including a lucky leg-bye bring the hosts within one single of their dogged 200. Three overs to go and perhaps they can slog their way to something in the region of 230. Stick around for some possible fireworks from Bravo and Sarwan.
West Indies 199/5 (RR: 4.23): Sarwan 68* (79), Bravo 1* (2)

Dwayne Bravo is the new batter.

WICKET
B Lara c Omar b Razzak 33 (27)

Over 46: It's no mercy time from Lara! He sails one over cover for a six and Mortaza is not impressed. From there on in the speedster's line is all over the place and Lara cashes in driving through point and then taking a single off the last ball of the over, farming the strike his way - clever thinking from the legend.
West Indies 196/4 (RR: 4.26): Sarwan 67* (77), Lara 33* (26)

Mortaza back in the attack.

Over 45: A two through square-leg off the bat of Lara off the last ball of the over notches up the half-ton partnership between the captain and the vice-captain. It's come in good time too. Now, what of the closing five overs...
West Indies 186/4 (RR: 4.13): Sarwan 66* (74), Lara 24* (22)

Over 44: 15 runs off the over! Evidently bringing Rasel back into the attack has proved a bad idea. Lara drives to long-on for two after a single to Sarwan. The skipper then smashes a low full-toss to the on-side ropes, wide-ish long-on. A brace of singles and then another low full-toss is lambasted over cow-corner for a biggie by Lara. Funny things this - Sarwan could have been back in the pavilion but a half-hearted appeal for a run-out was not referred to the third-umpire, and Sarwan lives on. Run-rate over four for the first time today.
West Indies 181/4 (RR: 4.11): Sarwan 64* (71), Lara 21* (19)

Over 43: Razzak's return to the attack quietens the flourishing run-rate a bit with a three-run over. Lara failing to come to terms with the pace of thepitch, plays and misses on a good few occasion. A couple of direct-hits happen without reward and Lara and Sarwan plod along.
West Indies 166/4 (RR: 3.86): Sarwan 62* (69), Lara 8* (15)

Razzak back in the attack.

Over 42: A dozen runs off the over including a shocker of a wide which races past the keeper (standing up to the stumps) for four. Sarwan punches a drive for two and he and Lara cash in on Rasel's ever-erring line with a handful of singles. Sad return to the attack for Rasel. Surely just a matter of balls now before Lara unleashes the fury.
West Indies 163/4 (RR: 3.88): Sarwan 60* (67), Lara 8* (11)

Rasel back in the attack.

Over 41: Nine overs to go now and Sarwan and Lara really need to start to look for more boundaries, pushing things about for ones and twos is not that handy right now and will only get them to a modest total. Boundaries.. boundaries are where its at Anyway, five more singles off this over.
West Indies 151/4 (RR: 3.68): Sarwan 55* (63), Lara 6* (9)

Over 40: Five singles all around the ground. Surprising that the Windies have not employed the sweep more than they have today, preferring to get to the pitch of the ball and drive it down the ground. Sarwan going to his half-century in that over, nice knock from the incumbent skipper.
West Indies 146/4 (RR: 3.65): Sarwan 52* (59), Lara 4* (7)

R Sarwan 50: 57 balls, 4 x 4s, 1 x 6Sarwan goes to his 26th ODI 50 and the second on the trot in this World Cup.

Over 39: Rafique continues with little effect, three singles off the over with Lara and Sarwan looking to contiune from where Chanderpaul left off. But they'll want to have a better strike-rate than he did... that's for sure.
West Indies 141/4 (RR: 3.61): Sarwan 49* (56), Lara 2* (4)

Over 38: A single each for the batsman, including one quick scamper that gets Lara off the mark, brings to a close Bangladesh's successful over.
West Indies 138/4 (RR: 3.63): Sarwan 47* (53), Lara 1* (1)

The legendary Brian Lara is the new man out in the middle.

WICKET
S Chanderpaul b Ahmed 50 (85)

Sarwan heaves across the line, middles solidly and it's four more. Sarwan really showing his mettle under pressure now. A single and then Chanderpaul reckons he can do the same, pulls across the line but completely misses and is bowled. He looks really silly having played that stroke as Ahmed picks up a wicket in his first over. A bonus wicket that. Bangladesh wouldn't have expected a wicket from Ahmed, just a couple of cheap overs.

Medium-pacer Aftab Ahmed into the attack.

Over 37: It's been a case of a boundary-an-over for the last handful of overs. This time Sarwan rushes one past square, just behind square in fact, for four. More singles at will including one that brings Chanderpaul his milestone.
West Indies 131/3 (RR: 3.54): Sarwan 41* (49), Chanderpaul 50* (84)

S Chanderpaul 50: 84 balls, 3 x 4s Chanderapul trots through for one more run to bring up his 46th ODI half-ton. Just three fours in that knock. Vintage Chanderpaul.

Breaking news! Duncan Fletcher has quit as England coach. Cheers mate, thanks for that.

Drinks break!

Over 36: Sarwan gets his hopes of a six right this time as he launches over extra cover. This time it's all the way and now the hosts are on the front foot. Hasan decides to toss it up a whole lot less and fires in flat and fast. The Windies block out a couple and then pick up two more singles on the off-side.
West Indies 123/3 (RR: 3.41): Sarwan 35* (46), Chanderpaul 48* (81)

Over 35: Obvious now that the Windies have decided to launch.Sarwan goes large over extra cover, the balls falls just short of the ropes and it's four. More singles all around the ground and the hosts have eight more in total off the over. Progressive times these.
West Indies 115/3 (RR: 3.28): Sarwan 28* (41), Chanderpaul 47* (80)

Over 34: Five singles picked off around the ground with Chanderpaul slowly but surely, single by single, closing in on his half-ton. But just a 50 ain't going to cut it today, he must go on and crack a ton. Sarwan providing the perfect foil to the veteran at the moment.
West Indies 107/3 (RR: 3.14): Sarwan 22* (38), Chanderpaul 45* (77)

Over 33: Sarwan cuts for two and Chanderpaul tickles to fine-leg for another two. They grab a single more each as Rafique proves a bit expensive for once. This batting duo suddently getting on top of the situation in recent overs.
West Indies 102/3 (RR: 3.09): Sarwan 20* (35), Chanderpaul 42* (74)

Over 32: A single off every ball of that over with all corners of the ground being explored. Drives, sweeps, laps and paddles - you name it, it was played. Bangladesh need another breakthrough, and the need it soon. And the run-rate is now three. Yay? Yay!
West Indies 96/3 (RR: 3.00): Sarwan 17* (31), Chanderpaul 39* (72)

Over 31: This partnership beginning to flourish as the Windies duo canter through for a couple of singles and then Chanderpaul takes advantage of third-man being up in the circle, nudging one past the fielder and getting a four. He then guides one through mid-wicket for another single, bringing the over's tally to seven. That run-rate nearly pipping three now. Nice.
West Indies 90/3 (RR: 2.90): Sarwan 14* (28), Chanderpaul 36* (69)

Over 30: The 30th over has the potential to be very expensive for Bangladesh as Chanderapul takes a single leaving Sarwan to slog-sweep through mid-wicket for four. But Hasan pulls it back nicely firing in some flat ones for four dot balls. Sarwan kept well at bay following that signal of intent off the second ball of the over.
West Indies 83/3 (RR: 2.76): Sarwan 13* (27), Chanderpaul 30* (64)

Over 29: A lively over despite just one run coming off it. Chanderpaul is nearly run-out at the non-striker's end but Rafique fails to gather the ball from the fielder. Sarwan playing fluently but unable to penetrate the gaps. 29 overs down and only six boundaries struck...somewhat sad hey.
West Indies 78/3 (RR: 2.68): Sarwan 9* (22), Chanderpaul 29* (63)

Over 28: A rare boundary as Chanderpaul rocks onto the back foot and punishes a rank long-hop through the covers for some welcome runs. The rest of the over is pretty standard as he and Sarwan resume their trot-through-for-singles parade.
West Indies 77/3 (RR: 2.75): Sarwan 9* (20), Chanderpaul 28* (59)

Over 27: A single each for Sarwan and Chandepaul. The latter surviving a decent appeal for lbw, not pitched in line enough for it to be given out. Slow and steady does it for the West Indies right now. Perhaps a quick burst from Rasel or Mortaza should come about.
West Indies 71/3 (RR: 2.62): Sarwan 8* (18), Chanderpaul 23* (55)

Rafique is back in the attack.

Over 26: It's that stage of the game, that middle stage where singles are the order of the day. Two more off the over as Hasan continues on his merry way, with the wicket of Samuels under his belt. What a luxury it is to have three spinners at your disposal - Bashar a lucky man.
West Indies 69/3 (RR: 2.65): Sarwan 7* (16), Chanderpaul 22* (51)

Over 25: Half way through the innings and Razzak is varying his pace a lot. Sarwan failing to pick a couple of quickerdeliveries but manages to squeeze one past cover for a single. A sweep-come-lap past square-leg earns him another and Chanderpaul gets in on the singles act with a paddle to fine-leg.
West Indies 67/3 (RR: 2.68): Sarwan 6* (13), Chanderpaul 21* (48)

Over 24: Sarwan and Chanderpaul bag three singles around the ground as the West Indies once again are forced to steady ship after the loss of Samuels. Brian Lara's in next, hopefully for the hosts, he'll gets some runs this day. His stint as captain is over after this World Cup, remember.
West Indies 64/3 (RR: 2.66): Sarwan 4* (10), Chanderpaul 20* (45)

Over 23: Chanderpaul times nicely to the long-on fielder for two. Sarwan is happy to farm the strike to his senior man for the moment and gets another single. Another wicket anytime soon and Bangladesh will fancy themselves bowling their oppostion out before their allotted 50 overs.
West Indies 61/3 (RR: 2.65): Sarwan 2* (5), Chanderpaul 19* (44)

Over 22: Two singles finish off the over, Sarwan getting off the mark straight away and Chanderpaul gathering one more. Chanderpaul simply must bat through now if the Windies want to post a total anywhere near decent enough to late try and defend.
West Indies 57/3 (RR: 2.59): Sarwan 1* (2), Chanderpaul 16* (41)

Ramnaresh Sarwan, tipped to be the West Indies' next skipper, is the new batter.

WICKET
M Samuels c Rahim b Hasan 31 (66)

Oh dear, exactly what the hosts did not need. Samuels' blossoming stint out in the middle ends as he fails to get to the pitch of the delivery, drives loosley and only manages the edge. The keeper holds onto the sharp chance and Samuels is sent packing. Hasan striking in his first over of the day.

Third spinner of the day, Saqibul Hasan into the attack.

Over 21: A boundary and three other singles raise the West Indian collective half-ton in this over. Samuels decides to go over the top of mid-on and does so successfully, gathering another boundary. Chanderpaul needs to get in on the boundary act too but is quite content just picking off the ones and twos... well, ones really.
West Indies 54/2 (RR: 2.57): Samuels 31* (65), Chanderpaul 14* (39)

Over 20: Three singles picked up around the ground as the third and final powerplay comes to an end. That's it for the restrictions in the field, now Bashar can pretty much do what he wants with his field placements. Tougher times ahead for the batters? Perhaps.
West Indies 47/2 (RR: 2.35): Samuels 26* (60), Chanderpaul 12* (37)

Over 19: Another near maiden as Samuels blocks out five balls from the deceptive Razzak, then driving to long-off where a simple one is gifted to two as some silly fielding takes place in the deep. Bangladesh can't afford to let that happen. They have to keep the pressure on and must not let Samuels get going.
West Indies 44/2 (RR: 2.31): Samuels 25* (56), Chanderpaul 10* (35)

Over 18: Three runs off Rafique's opening over with Samuels facing all six balls, driving for two and then prodding through mid-on for the single off the last ball of the over.
West Indies 42/2 (RR: 2.33): Samuels 23* (50), Chanderpaul 10* (35)

Indeed, Mohammad Rafique into the attack.

Over 17: Razzak's spin and deception through the air getting the better of the batters for the moment as they take just a single each. Just a matter of time now before Bangladeshi skipper introduces his next spinner to bowl in tandem with Razzak.
West Indies 39/2 (RR: 2.29): Samuels 20* (44), Chanderpaul 10* (35)

Drinks break!

Over 16: Productive over for the hosts! 10 runs from it. Chanderpaul and Samuels trot through for a single each and then Samuels pounces on some poor line and length, cutting two short and wide balls in a row to the ropes for successive fours. The first should not have been a boundary but some poor fielding from Mohammad Rafique gives the Windies the bonus runs.
West Indies 37/2 (RR: 2.31): Samuels 19* (43), Chanderpaul 9* (30)

Third and final powerplay comes into play, and is taken.

Over 15: A single each for Samuels and Chanderpaul. The former surviving a good shout for lbw, the ball hitting the pad first and then getting the inside edge. That should have been out. Bad umpiring that. Razzak getting a bit of fizz early on, sure to cause some trouble for the Windies today.
West Indies 27/2 (RR: 1.73): Samuels 10* (40), Chanderpaul 8* (27)

Abdur Razzak, one of three left-arm spinners available for Bangladesh, into the attack.

Over 14: Finally, a bit of intent. Samuels gets on the back foot and drives past mid-off for two. He then smashes one through the covers but can't get past the fielder - no runs. The last ball of the over is picked up on the up and lofted over wide mid-wicket for the second four of the day. Is this the beginning of more to come? Windies fans hoping so.
West Indies 25/2 (RR: 1.78): Samuels 9* (35), Chanderpaul 7* (26)

Over 13: Another near maiden but Mortaza slips up with a wide. Could this get any slower? Wow. These two failing to manipulate the ball through the gaps in the field. How different things could have been had Smith and Gayle stuck around...
West Indies 19/2 (RR: 1.46): Samuels 3* (29), Chanderpaul 7* (26)

Over 12: 63 dot balls in the first dozen overs. Just one boundary. Just six singles. Stagnant stuff this from the Windies. Over 12 is another maiden, played out by Samuels.
West Indies 18/2 (RR: 1.50): Samuels 3* (29), Chanderpaul 7* (20)

Over 11: Samuels works one past square for a single and that's it for the over as far as runs are concerned. Dot balls aplenty with the Windies digging themselves into a bit of a hole. Yes, they've lost two early wickets but they still need to be scoring runs.
West Indies 18/2 (RR: 1.63): Samuels 3* (23), Chanderpaul 7* (20)

Bangldesh opt to take the second powerplay. No surprises there.

Over 10: Samuels defends on the front foot and gets a single for his efforts. Then it's business as usual as Chanderapul is as dogged as ever, blocking out five dot balls. Rather boring batting really. Just look at the run-rate.
West Indies 17/2 (RR: 1.70): Samuels 2* (18), Chanderpaul 7* (19)

Over 9: Some superb fielding in the out-field and a near return-catch off the first ball of the over make up another maiden. This time the bowler is Rasel and the batsman is Chanderpaul. The Windies' run-rate drops to below two.
West Indies 16/2 (RR: 1.77): Samuels 1* (17), Chanderpaul 7* (14)

Over 8: Rasel needs to make the batters play at more, too many are being allowed to go through to the keeper. Chanderpaul takes an easy single after which Samuels is content to see off the rest of the over without ant theatrics.
West Indies 16/2 (RR: 2.00): Samuels 1* (17), Chanderpaul 7* (8)

Over 7: Mortaza cashes in on Samuels' choice to block it out for the moment, as the paceman adds a maiden over to his figures. The pressure is on Samuels to perform, back in the side at the expense of youngster KieronPollard.
West Indies 15/2 (RR: 2.14): Samuels 1* (13), Chanderpaul 6* (6)

Over 6: Samuels plays out frustrating dot balls and then can no longer contain himself as he flashes hard at a wide-ish one. He doesn't middle it and the edge flys to the slip area. A diving Abdur Razzak fails to take a sharp chance low to his left. A tough one, but a dropped catch nonetheless as Samuels lives to fight on.
West Indies 15/2 (RR: 2.50): Samuels 1* (7), Chanderpaul 6* (6)

Over 5: Mortaza is pitching it too full and is punished down the leg-side for four and clipped through square-leg for two. Chanderapaul off the mark in fine style and in need of a big knock today. Too often he is the man left to pick up the pieces left behind by the Windies' openers and the ill-discipline stroke-play.
West Indies 14/2 (RR: 2.80): Samuels 0* (1), Chanderpaul 6* (6)

Over 4: Samuels allows his first delivery, the last of the over to go through to the keeper and Rasel racks up a wicket-maiden. Bangladesh in the driving seat early on and the Barbados crowd is suddenly very quiet.
West Indies 8/2 (RR: 2.00): Samuels 0* (1), Chanderpaul 0* (0)

Marlon Samuels, back in the team and in to bat way earlier than he would have liked.

WICKET
C Gayle lbw Rasel 1 (11)

Once again Gayle fails with the bat. A lot of hopes were pinned on the tall opener but he certainly has failed to deliver in this tournament. He survives a loud shout for lbw but then falls soon after, struck on the pads dead in front. Umpire Koertzen raises his finger... slowly... oh so slowly.

Over 3: West Indies 8/1 (RR: 2.66): Gayle 1* (6), Chanderpaul 0* (0)

Shivnarine Chanderpaul is the new batsman.

WICKET
D Smith b Mortaza 5 (12)

Mortaza kicks off the extras tally with a wide down the leg-side and then the Windies nab a quick leg-bye. Mortaza strays in line again and is clipped through square-leg for two. He persists with that line and gets rewarded as one pitches, doesn't swing, misses the bat of Smith and clean bowls the opener. Good, early success for the hopeful Sub-Continental minnows. A sad day for the hosts it will be, when people start classifying them as minnows.

Over 2: Rasel settles into a nice line in his first over, perhaps not getting the batsman to play at enough deliveries. Smith prods forward at one, times it nicely and he gets two through the covers. The Windies will be looking for one of their openers to get a biggie today if they hope to post a decent total.
West Indies 4/0 (RR: 2.00): Gayle 1* (5), Smith 3* (7)

Left-hander Syed Rasel to share the new ball with Mortaza.

Over 1: Mortaza getting some early swing. Gayle and Smith get off the mark with a single each to fine-leg and third-man respectively. Mortaza also getting some nice bounce off this belter of a track, as Gayle ducks under a fierce one to close out the over.
West Indies 2/0 (RR: 2.00): Gayle 1* (5), Smith 1* (1)

Mashrafe Mortaza to open the bowling for Bangladesh.

Chris Gayle and Devon Smith to open the batting for the Windies.

All and sundry are out on the field and we are all set for the start of play.

Bangladesh boosted by the return of Syed Rasel, with Shahadat Hossain getting the chop. Shahriar Nafees' poor form sees Javed Omar return. West Indies recall Jerome Taylor and Marlon Samuels, with dropped Ian Bradshaw and Kieron Pollard sitting this one out.

Teams:

West Indies: Chris Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Brian Lara, Dwayne Smith, DwayneBravo, Denesh Ramdin, Daren Powell, Corey Collymore, Jerome Taylor, Marlon Samuels.

Bangladesh: Javed Omar, Tamim Iqbal, Habibul Bashar, Saqibul Hasan, Mohammad Ashraful, Aftab Ahmed, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mohammad Rafique, Abdur Razzak, Syed Rasel.

News from out in the middle is that Bangladesh have won the toss and opted to bowl first.

The umpires for today's match are Billy Bowden and Rudi Koertzen - two of the more animated officials in the game these days. Simon Taufel is the third umpire while the match referee is Jeff Crowe.

Hello and welcome to the third-last Super Eight clash of the World Cup. Today sees Bangladesh and the West Indies take each other on in Barbados. It's a bit of a dead-rubber affair as neither team have qualified for the semi-finals but at least there is pride to play for. Bangladesh are hoping to cause one more upset, while the Windies are hoping to give their home crowd something to cheer about.
